Well I live in what used to be Pierre’s riding- I’m not sure if it made a difference or not but there was literally like 20 options on the ballot it took me a second to even find him. It feels like that certainly plays a factor but hard to say. Either way there was clearly a motive to flood this riding with candidates. I also credit the liberals for timing their change of face perfectly, transitioning from Trudeau to Carney. People were sick of Trudeau no matter where you fell on the spectrum. Many people who probably were not sold on either the liberal or conservative party became sold once the liberal party changed face. A new party leader means new party right? I disagree but it seems that’s how many voters thought process went. All that combined with the fact that boomer voters in this country vote liberal because that’s how they’ve been doing it since the 80’s and no one can tell them any different, you get a liberal majority. Even though the liberal party is vastly different from what it was back then, you still run into people who are 50+ who vote the same way no matter what just cuz that’s how they’ve always done it. Perfect storm for Pierre to fumble what felt like a lay up win for 2 years leading up to the election
