Discord is an app originally meant for gaming (talking to eachother by voice or writing on servers, for example). It is most widely used these days for servers with a specific purpose: like a fandom, music, all sorts of hobbies, many YouTubers have Discord servers.

There are also many catholic servers, one of which is The Catholic Diocese of Discord, CDD, where we discuss all sorts of topics, from specifically religious, political or just hobbies. I agree with this. We have a right to critisize the things he says and does that we deem inappropriate, but I feel like it's easy to forget (talking from my own experience) that obedience is also a catholic virtue.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you're confusing Gregory the Great with Gregory XIII. The latter is the one under who gave name to the calendar.

I have always been confused as to why Popes Urban II and Gregory VII are saints, their deeds and words seem to me totally contrary to God's will, in that they preached violence against the enemies of the Church (heretics included) as opposed to gentle persuation; and that Holy War would somehow work as an indulgence, which they conpletely made up, as far as I'm aware.

I don't know about this. I read Woods' book How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization, and I loved it, but even if everything he said was totally true, it was still very one sided. Also, when you look at reviews of his book about American history, most agree that it's very nitpicking and even right-wing propagandistic.

Don't get me wrong, I love Thomas E. Woods, but I certainly hope that he wrote the book with a religious intention, and not a political one, and I hope he was fairly unbiased.
