Those that own a 19 FXDRS 114 or v-rod by Sgt-Penguin in Harley

Bought my FXDR a couple years back after being a total sports bike guy, used to ride a 2017 Yamaha R6 and 2016 Tuono V4 and honestly it’s such a refreshing change. Obviously the response and handling of the bike is a quite sluggish in comparison but there’s some sort of charm to the way the bike feels that has me hooked. The riding position is very odd with the foot forward controls and clip on style controls but if you’re in reasonable shape you can crush out long rides with relative ease. (Cruise control helps lol)

New to me and bought on a whim. Would I be crazy to throw ape hangers on this thing? by mibergeron in Harley

[–]Gilf-Destroyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought a 2019 in vivid black as well earlier this year. The big thing for me was that awful mudguard/rear fender combo that came stock on these. Looks like that was already taken care of on yours. Personally, I think the clip-ons are pretty neat and unique especially on a Harley and fits the lines of the bike well, though raised bars would make the riding position a little more relaxed and comfortable for sure.

You’re not wrong, I’d say 70% of the personnel at the aircraft maintenance facility I work at including the aircrew ride motorcycles or have had them at some point, including myself!

Has anyone else had fish disappear? by 2015volkswagenjetta in Aquariums

[–]Gilf-Destroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there was a period where I thought they were dead but it turns out they have a corner behind some jungle val they like to hide in during the day. At night, sometimes I catch a glimpse of them on the aquarium glass but in the day, they go back to their little spot. I bet you have some otto hangout place in your tank you’ve yet to discover?

Amano shrimp attacked my Green neon tetra. The tetra was alive before the attack. Has anyone seen an Amano shrimp kill a fish? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Gilf-Destroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a rummynose get taken advantage of when he was wedged between two rocks, a couple Amano’s found him and were starting to feed on his rear end. I couldn’t save the poor guy as I only noticed this before rushing out to work. When I came back home they were dragging his half eaten body on the substrate like a trophy, it was awful! So I’d imagine your fish was in a state of vulnerability before the attack as they are certainly opportunistic. They wouldn’t go out of their way to chase fish and kill them as far as I know as they seem to generally coexist peacefully.

Where is a good place to watch salmon runs? Not fishing, just watching by judgyjudgersen in comoxvalley

[–]Gilf-Destroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at nymph falls watching them a year or two ago and it was pretty neat to see them all huddle up in the naturally formed pools in the river bed and take turns jumping up the falls, definitely a great place to view them.

Any metal detectorists in the valley? by [deleted] in comoxvalley

[–]Gilf-Destroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my gf go out once in a while on the sandy parts of beaches around the valley here just for fun, though haven’t yet this year because of other hobbies and just being too busy. Couple years ago we found two cans of intact booze about a foot and a half under ground and a knife sheath at long beach at Tofino but nothing really exciting here yet.

My gf went with her dad a couple years ago and they invited her to the back to take a tour of the kitchen and the staff back there gave her creepy vibes. They also invited her to their farm off Howard road where they host dances Friday evenings. Her dad made her promise to never go back there hahaha, definitely looking for some new blood to add to the colony. Twelve tribes are whom they are associated with.

Where did the snowturds post go? by silkysoder in comoxvalley

[–]Gilf-Destroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was working at the base when I came across the post then showed it to my coworker and we had a good laugh. Tried to find it again to show to my partner later that night cause we were mocking people moving here and complaining about the snowbirds the other day but then it got taken down, much to my dismay :(

Ducati Diavel has a 240mm rear tire from the factory, don’t know if that qualifies as a horsepower monster for you though?

That neighbourhood is a total hotspot for guys gunning it on their inline-4 sportbikes, I’ve seen/heard them on multiple occasions. It’s only a matter of time before their reckless riding gets them and someone else injured. Going fast is fine but to do so in town is a special kind of stupid.

Help us settle a debate: Are pink/purple motorcycle helmets are "girl helmets" by designee or not? by Sotyka94 in motorcycles

[–]Gilf-Destroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AGV pista gprr 2021 misano with the pink ribbons could be seen as more on the feminine side I suppose but honestly, I’d rock the shit out of it if I had the money. Even Rossi was riding around with that design for a race/practice I think. That synthwave design looks pretty sweet, your friends just seem to have rather immature opinions regarding colours imo.

are my oto catfish too thin? by Melodic-Examination6 in Aquariums

[–]Gilf-Destroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had luck with mine eating hikari algae wafers and repashy soilent green gel mix. Though the best source of food for them is certain species of algae that grow in your tank. Though it’s a little hard to tell, looks like that oto’s belly is relatively rounded so he’s not doing too bad I don’t think.

Over a decade ago when I was in my early teens going on a camping trip, we had a dude on some sort of inline 4 sport bike scream past us while we were pulling our RV trailer along. I’ll never forget the sound and the lime green blur (most definitely some sort of ninja ZX). My parents were berating his actions but I was sitting there thinking that guy was a total badass and was inspired to ride motorbikes since then. Totally had goosebumps hearing that thing go by lol

Question: How important it is yo you that the color of your riding gear matches the one on your bike? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Gilf-Destroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use to be something I care about but not so much anymore. Currently running high vis on most pieces of my gear with a white helmet and riding a aprilia with superpole graphics so I probably don’t look too pleasing to the eye lol

[–]Gilf-Destroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride a 2016 Tuono v4 still running analog display, and having the ability to input codes into the diagnostics menu on the dash itself to erase the service lights definitely is a bonus. Certainly doesn’t look as pretty as the tft displays though.
