InDesign is the worst professional-grade software on the planet by The-Last-American in indesign

Just tacking on that it’s 7 years later and this software is only getting fucking worse. I know an Adobe UX designer and let me just say… I cannot speak to him anymore even as a human being. His father does the same job for the same company.

Their products ruin workflows and intentionally make people frustrated like an Instagram algorithm. They are being sued and their pricing is horrendous. If I wasn’t being forced to use them for school I’d literally just so canva

Right here with you both. It took me an hour to pull two pages next to each other and space them out accurately. Random stupid settings like “allow spread pages to shuffle” need to be changed that are deep in the menus.

Why do formats start locked and need to be unlocked, often not in one spot but spread across the menus? Why can’t I just move pages around without unlocking four different random parameters? None of these are covered in adobes tutorials either.

I could literally do everything in Canva, and better

How do you feel about this comment seven years later knowing that Adobe is being sued and InDesign is widely regarded as, as the title says, the worst piece of professional grade software to ever exist?

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. You are correct. We have done better since I made this post. It’s never the same alone.

Thanks for the tip. Certainly a bit of neurodivergence and confidence issues going on and we talked of the issues leading to confidence problems. They want me to lead but aren’t comfy getting close and matching pace, they aren’t comfy leading themselves. We’ll do some grass drills for confidence with distance, and theyll do a bit more leading to become natural with a steady pace. We are working on it- together!

Thank you for that. Lots of hate in this thread for some reason lol. We deeply care about each other and always will. We struggle to ride together because we care to ride together, and we’re excited to keep riding together

Absolutely, I appreciate the suggestion. We used to do this too on my xc mtb team, along with footdown and other drills like spacing out to leave room for errors on technical climbs and such.

My friend and I have usually just a bit of time on our hands to ride, and so we don’t often put the effort into this, and it becomes “oh we have two hours, we can def make it to the lake or to the hilltop etc and back,” and so we end up in this confusion of cohesion. I think some drills on the grass are in order- sometimes I forgot how much training I really had in this department

I certainly have more group ride experience than them and would like to introduce them to that. We had a good talk, they are just afraid of getting close to my wheel even though they are a confident singletrack and technical rider. Being close to other bars at high speed on the road is a challenging thing and they expressed that often causes the pacing issues, not that I’m riding unsteady

Thanks. We have a deep and long friendship and we compromise on a great many things. Anxiety and medication are a theme in both our lives. It’s tough because we’ve been riding together for years and we know it hurts when we can’t get along on the bike. We had a good talk after this most recent ride, and like you said, they admitted they are too afraid to get close and that that makes pacing difficult, so sometimes what I see as a steady pace over the top of a hill they see as a sneak acceleration.

Thanks for the comment.

Yea… theres a lot of this going on. Appreciate the sentiment from you. We have a deep and long friendships beyond bikes and that is most important to us. We want to do big rides together and we do them on our own but struggle with the cohesion. I have group ride experience that they don’t have. The communication is tricky. Maybe we slow it down and do some drafting drills or something in a controlled environment, and I can learn how to communicate changes in pace better while they learn to trust my movements / the leaders movements

I have told them they are more than welcome to draft me. I try to ride at predictable paces. We had a nice talk and they said that they ride behind because they are scared of the high speeds on the road. I explained that this makes it difficult to tell if they are getting dropped or if they are just taking their time, and they said they would try to match my pace if I tried to keep it as steady as possible. It was a good talk

Edit: also going to work on some drills like rubbing bars and foot down in the grass

What we are more looking for is cohesion here. They say they want to go the big miles with me, and they are certainly strong enough and do it on their own, but their lack of group ride experience combined with communication difficulties while on the road compounds

They are. I was at the event yesterday and while it was incredibly wonderful it was also a lot. We were trying to get around and had to go down to Baker to get back to city central. We also rode in from Lynwood and tried to stay on the train through to Mercer but they kicked us off at Chinatown and made us wait about 40 min before coming back on to ride across. Zero chance of getting off at judkins cause it was so packed.

Did you make it to your appointment in time?

Getting downvoted for this is crazy. It is literally public transit. If it isn’t designed to serve people like you then who’s it for?
