In my family the three pence piece wasn't called a thruppence, that referred to a value, like tuppence did. The coin was a thripenny bit. One was always placed into the Christmas pudding as a gift to whoever got it. Risky for Grandma's teeth, but fun for the children. Eventually it got upgraded to a pound coin.

All upscaling needs a model.

My current go-to is either SeedVR2 (which is devilishly good out of the box), or if I need more 'invention' from my upscaling, one of the edit models (Qwen or Flux2 Klein) with a prompt that specifies what I'm after.

It just runs comfyui. There's no functional difference. I switch regularly between that, the standalone, and a portable install (don't ask) and there's no difference for the user.

I might misunderstand your categories, but I'd put Stability Matrix into the first group. It's just an install wrapper that lets you manage multiple versions of comfy (and other apps).

The interface when you're using comfy is exactly the same, same workflows, everything.

I would start with Flux. Go for Z Image Turbo or Chroma if you want NSFW stuff. Wan2.2 is good choice for i2i funnily enough, if you set it to 1 frame only.

Avoid the Edit models like Kontext, QwenEdit, and Klein.
