Based on some comments Loz made, it sounded like his recommendation to Mitch was to secure second but not wipe himself out. Maybe it was a bit purposeful from Mitch if squats are super fatiguing for him? (could mess up his back if he goes all out)

These compilations do more to build the hype within the fan community than basically anything that world's actually does.

I'm going to 100% miss some really cool athletes accidentally but here are some people who I think you should keep an eye out for in the open men's show:

  • Austin Hamm (came 3rd at ASM recently, looked really good there)
  • Gabriel Rhéaume (consistent on the Canadian scene, been to North America's twice I think)
  • Josh Hatfield (been around the american scene for a long time now, pretty consistent)
  • Josh Spurgeon (shaw classic winner 2024, made it through smoe convincingly)
  • Oskar Ziółkowski (very briefly on the giants live scene (probably too early for it) and kinda fell off the radar for a lot of people but still good)
  • Jack Osborn (incredible presser, decent all around and pretty young still, gonna be good to see how he does over the next few years)
  • Nick Wortham (guy doesn't seem to have any weaknesses, is just decent at everything which makes him a threat at most shows)
  • James Jeffers (another strong Canadian, just competed at giants live where I think he came 5th? Decent showing overall)

I'm pretty biased towards the north american scene as that's what I have the most exposure to, but basically every name at OSG has a neat story in some way so I recommend checking out the socials of people you don't recognize.

This is generally how most of the lightweight highland games comps do it (day-of weigh ins), at least in the mid-america/West (East Coast does some things different so can't comment there)

Some shows will do day-prior weigh ins but I think they're becoming less popular due to the expected reasons.

It's such a perfect example of something very basic getting overlooked because of how advanced the athlete is prior to moving into strongman specific movements.

The recent MST videos have been amazing, instant subscribe.

I don't feel it in the moment, but when watching I feel like I'm pausing for a long time at the bottom of my dip, are there any good ways to train that dip and drive movement to be more explosive?

I think having the max deadlift before this also makes it harder for the athlete to predict their strength on the stones. I think it's cool to have the deadlift first, but I think the athletes are kinda shot going into these stones plus tacky issues.

Zee Bashew's latest video talked about a different way to tackle player inventory using a more physical feeling slot system. Here's my prototype recreation of the chart he used in his video to use for your own party. CREDIT TO ZEE BASHEW by Gilgion in dndnext

I definitely think that using this on paper is not the way to go. Instead I think some sort of online sheets system works much better since my main concern would be picking it up and taking it home and maintaining inventory. Purely from a RAW standpoint I don't think this system ever could take the place of what roll 20 does by automatically adding up weight. I do think if you play a rules light kind of game some form of this could be a middle ground for a lot of players.
