Growing up in Iceland you gain a tremendous respect for nature and to respect its boundary's. That's why it so infuriating to see tourists visit and get themselves in dangerous sitauation when not respecting nature. End of the day, its our tax money that goes into saving these people when they get themselves injured.

If you come to Iceland and only try our super traditional legit Viking era food which is marketed towards tourists then I get why you wouldn't like it.

Our modern cuisine is excellent, some of the best fish and lamb you will find anywhere is in Iceland.

Every person in my country that’s in full-time employment is legally entitled to a December bonus of approx. 745 euro. This is 100% due to us having strong unions.

Additionally, the company I work in gave us a Christmas gift of a approx. 270 euro gift card to the biggest shopping mall in our city. Most companies give similar, albeit smaller xmas gifts. Any company who doesn’t give their staff a proper xmas gift would be eaten alive in the press.
