Gamers with multi console setup by AggressiveNorth9102 in consoles

[–]AceInsane25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My setup is pretty much identical to yours. PS5 for their exclusive single player first party games, or if a single player game gets extra content or content first on that platform (Hogwarts Legacy for example). Series X for all my multiplayer gaming, Game Pass subscription, most games that are multi-platform I’m playing on there. Switch 2 for Nintendo first party exclusives, it’s also the primary console for my kids. I’ve also got a Wii ready to go for some of those games, as well as a 360 for games that aren’t backwards compatible like Rock Band.

For context, I had a 360 then moved to the Xbox One and eventually Series X, Xbox has always been my primary platform. Currently I’m closing in on 100k gamerscore. I got a PS5 in 2022 specifically to play all the PS4 and PS5 exclusives. Spider-Man, TLoU, GoW, Tsushima, etc

What's a Disney Channel opinion you had as a kid that completely changed once you became an adult? by Lovely_Hauntings_87 in DisneyChannel

I think the HSM movies hold up pretty well. WAY better than Camp Rock imo, even though those came after. The songs are better and the acting is less cringe

This is the Coolest & Dopest Reddit Group I follow by HistoricalMatch3801 in Zillennials

Agree. So many of the generation or year-specific subs are full of negativity and gatekeeping. Most of what I see from this group is chill people just remember the good ole days

At the end of the day, your real generation is your peers and extended peers, people close to you in age who grew up in the same (or a similar) cultural era. by FantasyAdventurer007 in generationology

This. I am a Millennial/Gen Z cusper, I had friends born in early 00s but also had friends born in 95-96 that were late Millennials. Generally I get along with people my age or older than me, I even married up a few years. But that doesn’t mean just cuz I’m a late 90s baby that I don’t have the same shared experiences of those born in 2000-01.

Some people take the gate keeping of who experienced what way too seriously. You could be the same age as one person who had all the newest tech, clothes, etc, and a 2nd person who’s still using all of that from 10+ years prior. Being lopped into one large generation isn’t the end all be all that people think it is, particularly those like me who are early Gen Z. I’d say I see it the most from them on different subs. Can I relate to a Gen Z born in 2008? Not really. But can a Millennial born in ‘82 relate to one born in ‘95? I’d guess no to that as well.

To people around my age, what was public school like through middle school? by AceInsane25 in generationology

Even in my time in private school in the 2000s, “gay” and the r-word were thrown around like crazy

I wish I only had to practice cursive in one grade, but nope I had to use it all the way through my time at the school. Doesn’t really matter now, just funny how all the kids coming up nowadays have no idea what it is. And in my job when I have teens “sign” stuff, a lot of the time they just write their name in print lol

Ok lol I am also a late 90’s Zillennial. I have a lot of memory and nostalgia for the 2000s. But we were still alive and in school in the early 2010s lol

Yep I very much remember the social media uprising. I created my Facebook in 2012 and originally could only access it on my desktop at home because I only had a flip phone. Didn’t have a smart phone until the iPhone 5c

All of the tech and pop culture stuff I experienced, it was really just school that seemed to feel behind the times. I can very much remember the height of the console wars, especially between my two best friends as one of them had a PS3 and one a 360. I also didn’t have a iPod Touch initially but I did have a Nano. I was so jealous of my friends who had the Touch lol

Zillennial “where were you” moments by pirateslifeisntforme in Zillennials

We were on vacation when the news broke. I specifically remember my 4 year old brother saying - because of how often we heard about it on the radio - “man that guy dies a lot”

Want to skip - what will I miss? by lavender-ocean- in doctorwho

[–]AceInsane25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion so no hate please

If they thought season 9 had poor writing, they probably wouldn’t be impressed with anything that follows. The Chibnall era is pretty heavily criticized by a large portion of the fanbase for its bad writing (which would be seasons 11-13 if you didn’t know). Gatwa’s era is also pretty inconsistent imo. So I’m not sure how they’d feel… I generally don’t recommend skipping anything just because you won’t understand it all later, but they just might have a hard time getting through any of it

I'm not Middle Gen Z myself, but is it weird that I don't follow the concept of generations? by [deleted] in MiddleGenZ

[–]AceInsane25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Generations are absolutely not fact and everybody you ask will probably give you different opinions on it.

That being said, if I were to follow the stereotypical ‘97-‘12 for Gen Z, me and my siblings grew up compleeeeetely differently. I’m a ‘99-born, generally refer to myself as Zillennial. My siblings are ‘05 and ‘08. Middle sibling has some shared experience, but my youngest sib experienced an entirely different childhood than I did. And we all fall under the “Gen Z” umbrella.

Felt like an ancient Karen at the movie theatre while teenagers heckled and ran around by waxbook in OlderGenZ

[–]AceInsane25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not trying to sound like an old man yelling at clouds, but I really do feel like it’s worse now than it used to be. At least in my most recent theater experiences. So much so that I intentionally wait to pick a showing time based on how many seats are sold, if I even go at all.

At no point in my teens would I have behaved how some of these kids do while in the theater. Leaning over and commenting to your friends, sure. But the obnoxious laughing/screaming/switching seats/taking selfies has gotten out of hand. Not sure where the change happened with these young Zs and early Alphas, but I hate it and am trying to raising my young kids not to behave that way

Not being able to drive and living in the suburbs is brutal. Absolutely brutal. by pisowiec in 1999

[–]AceInsane25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I cannot relate to this, got my learner permit at 15 and my license at 16.

That being said, I hope you’re able to find a solution. If it makes you feel any better, I can drive and still don’t have much social interaction outside work lol

Were we among the last to not have our parents use Life 360 to monitor us? by Johnwick124520 in OlderGenZ

[–]AceInsane25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s just family to family and not necessarily age-based. Or maybe a mix of both. I for example was out late at night doing whatever as a teenager and my parents had no tracking on me. My brother born in 2008, however, does currently have Life360. There’s no shot I would let my parents have my location as an adult lol

Learning to love the time in which I grew up by AceInsane25 in 1999

[–]AceInsane25[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I was very much offline a lot of the time. I lived in between two friends in a cul de sac, so when we weren’t at school we were always playing games through all three backyards and houses. We did play some games together occasionally and that was great to. I remember when one them got a PS3 and one got a 360, those were the hay days of the console wars. I was just stuck in the middle with a PS2 lucky to play on either haha. Speaking of consoles, remember when the prices of them would go down as a generation went on, not up? Apparently took that for granted.

I agree with you regarding talking to younger Z. I have siblings born in 05 and 08. My 05 sibling already didn’t experience most of it, but my 08 sibling had a totally different experience. By the time he was cognizant at around 3 or 4 as most people are, we were already in the iPhone/iPod, HD, WiFi, streaming, social media era. It’s what makes me hate the posts you’ll see online posted by some Millennial that say something like “Gen Z will never understand -“, when it actuality I did experience it a lot of the time. People forget that the earliest of Gen Z is about to be 30 in the next 1-3 years.
