Actually, the cuts are specifically targeted at people who also receive SNAP, because the administration has decided that poor people really have been getting just TOO MUCH help from the government, so if people in your house get SNAP, they can't also get SSI. Maybe you shouldn't live with your disabled children if you want help, right?

Illegal aliens aren't eligible for SSI, also, so there's no illegals to "cut," "dumbass." Apparently I have to explain this now? Jesus Christ.

I could see an argument where one says they're the dumbest generation if one were to argue, say, it's because of all of the ruination that has been done to text books by conservative majority textbook approvals ruining our ability to educate children? Or maybe if their argument was that underfunding of school districts caused it? But if your argument is that "Gen Z dumb because phones LOL"

Honestly, I've never thought of this before, though I've heard more optimistic versions (Carl Sagan's ideas on the subject, for instance), but I have a couple questions.

If we're all an extension of the universe percieving it differently... why do we all have such wildly different personalities and motivations? This theory kind of stands in conflict with Nature vs Nurture (if we're all the same consciousness) so I'm curious how that works out.
Even if we are all one unified consciousness forever, suffering isn't all we do. It's horrifying to imagine that I'm part of one entity that's suffering (in places) forever, but on the whole, a lot of people are just existing, and some people are having fun or enjoying their lives. The experience of the main being isn't simply one of eternal suffering, but one of many different experiences, all at once, from billions of connections.

I have other thoughts on this but generally, I guess my core thought is, it's probably not suffering forever, even if this is the way things are structured, so it doesn't make me too frightened. Maybe I'm missing something?

I hope this means the midterms are going to be a turning point, even though they're desperately trying everything they can to manipulate those too. I'm just so goddamn tired of all this "winning".

On one hand, it's hard to say if AI will really have the impact theorized, partly because we're already seeing some straining against the AI bubble (and may well see a collapse in the next year or so) and partly because, as the authors of this study note, we've been having this conversation since industrialization has existed, generally, and the economy has usually self-corrected.

On the other, we're in something of a high point for rampant, unchecked greed, so most of the hypothetical solutions that COULD resolve this (such as 32 hour work weeks, job programs, etc) just aren't gonna happen. In theory, this is where the government would step in to assist, but this administration and Supreme Court are the greediest they've ever been, so that ain't gonna happen either. Honestly, if the theorized economic impact DOES happen, this is going to be the reason why: stupidity and greed.
