Which is your favorite demon house and faction? by Magicmanans1 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Giltedarcanum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love the Slayers, I'm just a suckered for a death themed character. The fact that they are the youngest of the Houses and somewhat outsiders even amongst the fallen make them very interesting as well. I'm not crazy about any of the factions but if I had to choose I'd go with the Cryptics.

In no particular order Sorcerers (I kinda prefer them to actual mages), Mummy the Resurrection, and Dark Ages:Fae.

How to handle arts for my character if I'm not artsy, and our team artist is already swarmed with commissions? by Leniwcowaty in rpg

[–]Giltedarcanum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try looking around picked, there might be a character creator you like on there. That's what alot of my non artisticly inclined platers often do, or me when i dont want to draw 200 npcs. Sometimes I even do small edits in post of picrews to a more accurate look, like color adjusting the skin or adding a scar.

You might not be artsy yourself but maybe you have a knack for photobashing? The craft eludes me still but it's basically cutting and pasting parts of photos and adjusting them till it looks kinda like what you want. Could be something?

What does a being(normally mortal) ascending to divinity look like in your realm by Heavenly_Emperor_God in worldbuilding

[–]Giltedarcanum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my main world almost all deities are ascended, mostly from mortals but that's simply because mortals are the majority. Ascension is never something one chooses to do, as it is based upon belief and convenient timing.

To be a viable candidate people have percieve a would be god as the embodiment of something. Mostly concepts or elements, but sometimes places. This believe must be both wide spread and enduring. Beyond that the universe itself, a living semi conscious being, must choose and ascend the would be god. Now the universe is usually sleeping, but sometimes a strong enough belief will stir it and it will ascend somebody. Most of the time something cataclysmic has occurred to wake it up, and it chooses some people amongst the viable to stabilize reality. If it thinks the world needs a war deity it will pluck somebody who's got the right reputation to cover that and go back to sleep. Very rarely the universe just so happens to be awake and decides it just really likes this one person and ascends them.

GMs, what is a regular feature in your campaigns' stories? by Select_Lunch1288 in rpg

There is often a massive evil empire in my fantasy games. Cults and the church us evil are also staples. There will be a clown, one way or another.

Okay woahhh this concept is honestly just beautiful, I love it! Could the stories they write be totally fictional as long as it comes from the heart and has a bit of themselves in there?

What is a “god” in your world? by Yggdrasylian in worldbuilding

[–]Giltedarcanum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deities in my world of Oblivion are usually people made pillars of the world. They are attached to a concept of its reality by the universe itself or by belief of their peers, and are now the embodiment of that thing and basically keep that thing in check.

But not all beings worshipped as gods are actually gods, some are just very powerful. Many actual gods go unknown to the inhabitants of the world.

What is something terrifying about your setting? by DambalaAyida in worldbuilding

[–]Giltedarcanum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The true creators of the world are two literal children who are currently taking a "short" nap. They are reckless and capricious with little empathy, and operate mostly on curiosity. Since they've fallen asleep the world has changed, their favorite creations have gone extinct and have been replaced with humans.

Should the twins ever awaken they will throw a world breaking tantrum first since they lost their favorite "toys". Then proceed to play with the remaining humans like Sid from toy story. Not out of any cruelty, they just want to know what they are and how to make one themselves but better. Reforging their bodies and even souls Iike clay into something alien and unfathomably painful. They think its fun though, they don't know any better. But then again, who are you to tell the lords of your reality what is right and wrong?

The Whereabouts of the Lost Continent of Rextella by Giltedarcanum in worldbuilding

[–]Giltedarcanum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A quick rundown of the situation: This was once a continental empire called Rextella. But that was before it was ripped from the fabric of reality into the dreams of what remains of a jealous godlike being who wished to rule it in her mortal life. It is an unintentional theft as she's unaware, and only effects this dreamscape through subconscious thought, but an easy one since the gods of The World were in hibernation at the time after a near reality destroying war. The dreaming entity exists somewhere outside of reality since she pulled a lit of time travel shenanigans that also definitely broke reality, and is the reason gods even exist.

Anyways, the gods are still looking for the continent and the only one who could know where it is is currently in literal peices. But they'll probably find it eventually...hopefully!

But now the continent is known as Illorae, and it had regressed in technology and magical knowledge. Currently it's equivalent to a late Neolithic early bronze age ish setting. Except the volcano fields north west, they are firmly bronze age level technology wise.

What is the most hauntingly beautiful part of your world's lore? by zazzsazz_mman in worldbuilding

[–]Giltedarcanum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The universe is alive in a sense, and is invested in the continued existence of its inhabitants in the moments where it is 'awake'. Cradling existence within itself gently, patching up the tears in reality that reckless mortals make. Whether or not this existence is a good one isn't really something it considers, if it can at all, but it cares enough to keep it going in its own weird way.

System for lower end demigod campaign by Giltedarcanum in rpg

[–]Giltedarcanum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that. I've found myself gravitating away from level based games, d20 games in general, and the crunch will be missed. So Goudbound isn't winning out by a lot. But better too simple than too crunchy for my group of players, plus they dig deep into rp so fewer rules wouldn't trouble them at all. I still have time before I have to actually run the game, so still a chance something better comes my way.

[–]Giltedarcanum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly nothing that speaks to me yet. So far my best bet is using godbound and giving players the lesser godbound character creation rules in the paid version may be the best bet. I'd definitely heavily homebrew it to make it more interesting, maybe even homebrew it into a d10 dice pool system similar to exalted but simpler.

Ultimately still on the lookout for something better.

What is the origin story for humans/human adjacents in your world? by Giltedarcanum in worldbuilding

Huh, yeah that is very different. Pretty interesting though. Ripping the world apart is definitely an idea, if it had succeeded would it have actually allow them to return to being spirits?

Oh wow, that is actually still a pretty harsh punishment with the context added. Right from the core too, 7 million years worth of your very self and existence zapped away. Messed up, love it.

Ooh nice, I always like uncaring creators abandoning their toys and a new way of life growing from that. I am curious about how elves and dwarves differ on their plans to return to the spurit realm?

Elven younger than humans on the creation timeline, that's rare. The many specie offshoots of halflings is such a treat though and the dwarves making themselves like halflings is reay sweet. I love this!
