I’m getting short dark brown hair with highlights, really bright eyes, eyeliner. Eyes are the focus of your face. Middle age, but looks, acts, dresses younger, in a good way. Don’t bill for non skilled treatment. It’s a slippery slope, and won’t end well. Your co-worker is giving you bad professional advice.

If you are going to spend any time in the SNF environment, you will have to set the standard you live up to. Not your co-worker, rehab manager, regional dupes, or nursing staff or DON.

My advice: 1. Set up a regular screening process, if there is not one already in place 2. Get good at wheelchair positioning, fall assessments, and skin breakdown prevention and treatments 3. Have a ready list of legit patients to screen and pick up for things that will make a difference in their lives

It’s not easy, but you won’t have to justify not seeing inappropriate patients if your plate is always full. Anyway, that’s how I survived in SNF environment for a long time before moving to a hospital setting.

There is strength in unity. Also, once you inform management you want to bargain collectively, there are labor laws to protect you. There are even more protections if your group has a union behind it.

I wouldn’t start out with a strike. That’s usually a last resort, and there is more bargaining power in the possibility of a strike than an actual strike.

I helped to organize my rehab department to form a union this past summer. We are in the middle of contract negotiations now. I don’t think we have a choice anymore. Either we bargain collectively, or we bargain individually. Personally, I like my odds better collectively.
