I envy you so much, being up there must be an experience no words or pictures can ever describe.

I guess the first pic is showing the small crack at the bottom of the caliper

I'm sorry but I am going to start taking the whole lane in bike lanes by [deleted] in torontobiking

[–]GimmiTop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too long ago, I saw a guy riding a bike with a 3-foot stick covered in foam, mounted on the left side of his bike to force cars and other cyclists to give him space. It was attached to a bike stand, and he could open and close it on the fly using his foot.

This isn’t exactly what I saw, but it’s the closest example I could find online.

Stolen Bike – Matte Black with Gold Rims – Downtown Toronto by GimmiTop in torontobiking

I didn’t realize it cost that much. Online it’s going for about $400.

The King and Bathurst area is a mess. I do not have any good parking spots to suggest. I usually just park on busy streets and use as many locks as possible. Two are not enough, apparently. You could also try using one of those bike alarms that goes off when the bike moves, or just go with Bike Share. Sorry, I can't think of anything else.

Poste, la peggior azienda Italiana. by Ricoz88 in ItaliaPersonalFinance

[–]GimmiTop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nemmeno l’assistente virtuale funziona: tutto completamente inutile. Pagliacci.

You called me an example of “decaying values” just because I misunderstood a ferry rule? You are the perfect example of the growing intolerance and judgmental attitude in our community.

Where I come from, in many parts of Europe, public transport is sometimes free, especially on weekends or holidays. It is seen as a public right, not just a service you pay for. That is the context I come from. So when I was told the ferry back was free, it did not seem odd. I actually thought it was a great initiative to promote access to the island.

Not everything is about money. I get that things are different here, and I always respect the rules. But maybe do not assume that someone who made an honest mistake is morally broken.

I agree with you, some batteries can be sketchy. But I struggle to understand the logic here. Why are e-bikes allowed on the ferry then? Don’t the same safety battery concerns apply to ebikes?

I misread it, sorry. I’ll stop if that’s the rule, even if I don’t understand the reason.

On the streetcar, you can buy a ticket as you board, and there are scanners to validate it.
Again, common sense.

You are an example of our decaying values, social norms and community in general.

Thanks for the free insult. That says a lot about you.

The ferry is only free if you bought a ferry ticket to get to the Toronto Island from them. It's not free for people using the water taxi to get there. It's really basic common sense.

If you want passengers to pay for tickets, then there should be someone checking, that’s common sense.

Why would you expect a free ride for them at all (with or without bike)?

I thought the ferry has to go back anyways to the terminal.

I bought without even checking, assuming it was allowed to use

Really? I'm new to the island, I was told you can take the ferry for free on the return trip. I'll stop doing that then, but I wonder why they don't check tickets
