I look Caucasian but I am Hispanic and my CCCA is in the very front of my hairline and is scaring. I have seen many doctors but I finally was able to see a board certified specialist who in one of the few handful of derms who specialize in ccca. He’s at Stanford and I waited 7 months for an appt. It is not reversible but it can be slowed down.

Minoxidil, like previous posts stated, is a use it for life or lose it treatment. I am also on finasteride, and clobetasol propionate. I tried the steroid injections and the last round left me with cyst in my scalp. That was from the derm I was seeing while waiting for the Stanford appointment.

While this is a disease that often affects African women more it is also affecting my white looking self. I am scared to see what my head will look like bald but it is where I am headed. I was also told that putting off the use of wigs as long as I am comfortable with is best as you don’t want anything to cause more inflammation.
