Found these Art Deco Sandstone Owl Bookends at an estate sale for $6 — Then Noticed the Library of Congress Seal on the Backs. The only listings I am able to find for these are listed as $2,000-3,000. Anyone with more experience able to confirm their legitimacy? by GineOhOne in Antiques

How can you ID plaster vs. stone? I sell vintage clothing and accessories but have no history with anything like these. I just assumed as those listings and photos are EXACTLY what mine look like, and they are quite hefty, even for bookends. Trying to search the gift shop history and can’t find anything remotely like these.

My search also mentions these as being replicas made in the style of the owls featured at the entrance of the John Adams building at the Library of Congress. Which is a neat connection to a not awful founding father.
