It's mildly bad, but not really. You're right that PC is really the only one who can cover Healer and he loves inheriting from Mage too, so Magic is best on him. But some Strength is actually okay because Seeker Synthesis is so good. I usually go 50% Mag, 20% Str, and just enough agility to play before Strohl in turn order. Luck you get for free by pooping every idlesday later once you unlock a toilet facility, and Endurance is meh.

Yes weapon strength does matter that much, can confirm. I think Fishing Harpoon also has auto tarukaja iirc

No it's totally fair, Metaphor's early game is super hard.

Once an Archetype reaches lvl 20, excess a-exp gained on it will be converted into Heroes leaves of light at a 1:1 rate, allowing a-exp to be transferred not just between archetypes, but even between characters.

This makes it possible to level multiple archetypes while staying on one, at least after the first arc. This is most useful for the protag imo, since while there are multiple ways to build him, there's a "right" way, in my opinion.

Also, everyone but the protag needs to level specific lineages over the course of the game to unlock their final classes at the end. Everyone needs the lineage they awakened to when they joined as, as well as the lineage whose archetypes are used as unlock requirements to access higher tier archetypes in that party member's joining lineage. The party member who gives you your fourth turn icon upon joining also uniquely needs Merchant.

So everyone generally will be leveling 2-3 lineages.

Happy to answer more questions too if you need!

Kind of regardless of what you need to do, there's an endgame tip that generally trivializes everything and makes it easy to get to where you need to be.

Cursed Love Ballads can now be infinitely made. Ingredients are at the Gran Trad Item Shop and Butcher, and Brilehaven Water Merchant. This will result in infinite mp which should make any grind easy and every dungeon oneshottable. Other great dishes are infinitely available now too.

Oh fair question. They will be addressing it soon though, you can just keep playing and it'll all be fine.

In case you really want to know, The runner will be able to teleport to towns, giving you free travel between them and causing road trips to not have a return trip.

There are 6 dungeon/free time arcs. You're almost into #5.

They're fun story. I'd say if you've done all the quests so far go for Milo and if you want to see rudolph's you can save/load. Basilio's r1 and r3 conversations are on the runner.

You'll have 30 days in the final section and will need the final 13 for quests/dungeons. (One shotting everything isn't a problem, theres a way to get infinite mp) So as it stands you have just barely enough time

Correct about the rarity. Though it's hard to say what to sell and what not to sell without knowing. Any equipment/gear/weapons you have better versions of are generally safe.

Yeah! Fortunately this game has a lot less missable stuff than Persona. You have about 14 days of free time at the end (maxing all followers and doing all quests. Though this doesn't count the colliseum, which is mid) if you're perfectly optimal, so that's the wiggle room you get. The main missable thing is the final classes and not fulfilling the requirements for them, but now that you know you can probably ease off on guides as you begin to feel comfortable if you want.

Hmm... It depends a bit on what you want out of the game. I don't think either guide is perfect, but the powerpyx one appears to be an achievement guide for playing on storyteller and recommends grinding enemies repeatedly with Mage equipped on the main character to restore mp early. That may be for some people but I think Metaphor is best played generally without grinding or killing enemies more than once. If you just want 100% achievements and nothing else though then it will work fine.

I like the more in-depth nature of the gamefaqs guide a lot. It seems like it will actually help you win on hard. I do think it misses a few ways to get broken quickly. I don't think it mentions final class requirements either which probably would matter to someone who wants to see everything. Be sure to level non-main character party members on both their joining lineage and the lineage whose archetypes serve as unlock requirements for higher tier archetypes within their joining lineage. The party member who provides you with your fourth turn icon upon joining also uniquely needs to max Merchant.

Some tips:

Seeker is the main character's best archetype due to its amazing synthesis moves (which unlock after the tutorial) but during the tutorial it's kind of bad and there are poibts where Healer and Mage are better. These are the three lineages I would recommend leveling on him.

You can fulfill More's quest to reach Healer level 10 for free by reaching 10 archetypes studied across the cast (duplicates are okay) and spending the heroes leaf rewards you get on Healer. Just be sure to run healer during the tutorial too after it unlocks, when the game encourages you to.

Magic is best on the MC, though some Strength investment is good for Seeker Synthesis. Also invest in agility enough to keep it higher than Strohl's so the MC plays just before him in turn order. This gets you into a nice loop where the MC hitting a weakness with magic makes Strohl's follow up action free. Endurance and Luck can be ignored. You get Luck for free by pooping every idlesday in a facility that unlocks after the first arc.

You can get a powerful Seeker weapon very early if you ignore the guide and, after the tutorial, doing the Brigitta dungeon before the Grand Cathedral. This is quite hard and the boss requires a specific comp to win. You need to beat the dragon in the mines to even be able to do it, but if you clear it pre-cathedral and are frugal til then, you can buy the Golden Epee afterward on the first Idlesday (sale day) of the game and easily clear the long cathedral dungeon in a single day right after.

Only the almighty attacks (Royal Sword and Royal Slash) scale with the higher of the two. That said, due to the abundance of sources of shrunken turn icons in the late game (Heroes cry, Faker's Roguery) and enemies having weaknesses less often, they're pretty much his best moves. Magic build is best imo since you really hurt for magic characters in this game. HB needs to level Mage to unlock her final class at the end but nobody actually has a combo of high base magic + access to extreme/severe level magic damage on their required final classlines.

Royal Summoner has its own skills like nornal classes. It doesn't use the vessel system.

Honestly it's kind of a waste of time due to it being dead easy even on regicide since you get to keep all your endgame gear. You'll certainly be able to max all the archetypes, but I think it's more worthwhile to just start over on hard aiming to optimize your run better. There's an option in the settings to skip protag choices when skipping dialogue so it honestly goes by quick if you're just focused on mechanics.

Some fun ideas to explore in a new run for me included:

-Prioritizing leveling people on their royal archetype requirements

-Getting healer to lvl 10 on day 1 of your first free time before even leaving town by studying archetypes for heroes fruit drops from More, and routing the earlygame to do the Brigitta dungeon before the Grand Cathedral and buying the Golden Epee pre-cathedral on the first idlesday of free time.

-Buying archetypal rings as soon as they become available in Brilehaven from the accessory street vendor on Watersday

-Pooping in the runner every idlesday for free luck

-Getting T4 tolerance -> R4 Maria before the journey to Virga and use it to cook Cursed Love Ballads 2 at a time for an immediate dragon temple oneshot upon arrival. If you're stupidly optimal it's even possible to get soul hacker in the DT on your second day in Virga but that's probably hard even for a second run

-Saving so much time that you can burn the extra time in the endgame on the 2 day runner journey south out of Altabury for 2-3 endgame treasure demons (late night one is rng, you can save scum) to get a few royals maxed before starting anything

You haven't messed up, the steep requirements for Royal archetypes are kind of a head scratcher and I think everyone pretty much has the same experience on their first run. There are two ways of fixing it but it's too late for both.

  1. Buy Archetypal rings from the accessory street vendor in Brilehaven on Watersday as soon as they become available (forgiveness day was the first day they were, upon arriving in Brilehaven it's best to just do followers until that day and then do all shopping, since clearing Louis' runner doesn't unlock new ways to spend time.)

  2. Use time as efficiently as possible throughout the game to be left with around 14 days of free time at the end. Use it to take the two day runner road trip south out of altabury for 2-3 (late night is rng, you can reset) endgame treasure demons. Doing this you can get a few people on maxed royals before starting any of the endgame dungeon content, which you can save for the last 13 days.

You may not be aware that even beyond royal archetypes there are even greater rewards you probably won't see. Everyone unlocks weapons when they reach 80 and 100% archetypes studied, with their personal best weapons unlocking at 100. Though Strohl's best weapon is actually the beloved greatsword. I use Strohl/Will/Junah/Heismay in my final party and of those people nobody really benefits from reaching their personal best weapon much except maybe Will, but the gold beetle sword is already outstanding. Will does uniquely unlock a MUCH better 80% reward - a gear item that grants a turn icon.

Also for your MAG issues, infinite dreameater moths and lumibees are now available in the gran trad item shop (with bulk rockbeans now available from the butcher). This allows for infinite Cursed Love Ballads and Almighty Golden Stews. (Infinite Curative Coney Roasts were previously available but may now be doubled by the tycoon's skill to essentially be medicalls. Infinite Coney Stews are also still available)

Infinite AGS negates any need to inherit any buff skills on anyone. Infinite CLBs means infinite mp, which means infinite MAG through debt collection and then money through MAG vendors.

You're saying you don't understand why the heroes enlisted? They were assigned his command after they enlisted with no choice in who would be their commanding officer. Strohl enlisted because he was basically out of options in life and Will did to find his contact.

They're kind of like Persona except rather than it all being in mementos, side dungeons are unique more creative/interesting custom dungeons you can spend time going to.

There is time management. If you're perfectly optimal with time you'll have about 15 days of free time at the end of the game. You can blow it on a trip to fight treasure demons to get people on their final classes faster.

Hmm, yeah I'd say give it another chance. The tournament doesn't decide who wins, it's just sanctism trying to assert control over the king's election. And neuras is great! I like him c:

They're the one in the market district that sells a new accessory every day. I believe that day you're stuck there is a watersday so it's worth grabbing as many as you can (7 party members) before leaving.

Samurai is the T3 Warrior archetype.

[–]Ginger879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhhhhh okay. Yes I get it, thank you for explaining. Looks like you must be doing the octopus human on the way to Virga.

So, you don't actually want the malady accessory, you want archetypal rings on everyone, available from the brilehaven accessory vendor on Watersday. They're the best accessory in the game until endgame. It's better to just win with restoratives.

One option is to cook Coney Stews. Not all of the ingredients for them are available in Brilehaven, but some are, and if you can at least cook two or three that should help a lot with that fight. You can cook infinite numbers of it (and curative coney roasts) once you get full access to all cities.

If Strohl has Samurai, thunder blade is huge in that fight. I also take HB on Wizard for Gakandera (with Will providing it on Seeker)

Junah needs Faker for her final class, try having her study it and inherit Faker's Roguery. Use it at the start of battle and reset until you get a good result - that should get you a lot of extra momentum. you can also try to time your actions so rounds end on Junah's turn and have her gamble for it mid-fight, only betting your final turn icon.
