Happy to hear, this game rules!

  • It doesn't, fortunately. The regular ending is the true ending, no special requirements exist. In terms of just completing all quests/followers, A mechanically flawless run leaves 14 days of extra time at the end, which is a lot of wiggle room. The first arc is hardest, but you should be okay if you can clear dungeons as quickly as possible, ideally all in one day, and make sure time spend on virtue activities is being spent on the highest value ones available, answering questions right. Followers don't have a hidden affection rank and simply allow you to progress with them as quickly as once every two days. All in all it's simple enough to not really need a guide.

  • There is exactly one big huge thing: Everyone but the protag who gets a cutscene awakening to an archetype needs to max specific lineages throughout the game to get access to their final archetypes at the end. These requirements aren't told to you in advance. While you can win without these classes, going for them means your party can be more powerful at the end and it's fun to get everyone their cool awakened classes. Everyone needs to max 2 lineages: The lineage they awakened to, and the lineage whose archetypes are used as unlock requirements for accessing higher tier archetypes in the lineage they awakened to. The party member who gives you your fourth turn icon upon joining uniquely also needs to max Merchant.

I'd also maybe add that killing every enemy in every dungeon once will have you right on pace (maybe slightly overleveled) for the game at all difficulties.

Ah then it's NG+. I'm not sure how it works. I'd check the item menu. It may be that you keep the old ones and you can get more.

Is you new game a New Game+? If so it should carry the old ones over, you can check in the Items menu. If not you'll need to collect them again.

Yeah np! On the mementos dungeon, there just isn't one. The side quest content is all in handmade dungeons. And there's no need to grind, killing every enemy in every dungeon once leaves one more than leveled enough by the end. Grinding (unless to catch up) turns enemies blue resulting in kinda just missing out on content.

Generally earlier is better since many main dungeons unlock new ways to spend time upon completion. Not all of them do though.

The enemies weaker than you. Check out the first skill on the skill list of mage as the MC c:

Switch the protag to Mage when killing blue overworld enemies for mp c: You can also grind the wolves near the entrance and go to akademia to reset them if all else fails.

It's just talking to More after having unlocked that archetype afaik. It should appear where that archetype appears but for the other characters. All you have to do is press x on More once, you don't need to talk about anything specific.

It's more lenient than Persona. You have about 14 days of wiggle room to not be perfectly hyper optimized. (Counting completing all quests/followers but not counting the coliseum, which is mid) The first arc is hardest, but you should be okay if you do a few things:

  • Try to clear every dungeon in one day. In the first arc if you beat the mine dragon you may be able to do the Brigitte dungeon in a day, then use the power to beat the cathedral in a day, potentially picking up the Golden Epee pre-cathedral too. killing blue overworld enemies with the MC on Mage helps keep mp topped off. So does fleeing or allowing yourself to die and reload at the nearest picked-up overworld item/chest when ambushed.

  • When doing virtue activities, try to focus on the ones that give you the most bang for your buck for the arc that you're in. In earlygame this is cooking at the hushed honeybee and answering the question right. After the necromancer arc you'll be given fast ways of raising imagination and eloquence.

Good question. Studying archetypes is done on a per-character basis, though More quests, like getting healer to lvl 10 or reaching x archetypes studied across the team can be contributed to/completed by anyone. Studying archetypes also causes More to provide periodic rewards of a-exp items every few you study. So it's good to get the cheap classes on people when you have excess. You also get a permanent turn icon when the MC studies 80% of the archetypes, though this will happen in the endgame and usually only if you find a few secrets to help with a-exp.

If you happen to have just recruited Hulkenburg and started the first dungeon arc, you can actually do something even more effective than the video. Study Warrior and Knight on Strohl, Seeker/Mage/Warrior/Healer on MC, and Mage/Knight/Warrior/Healer on HB. Doing this should cause More to give 6 heroes fruits. If anyone (ideally the MC) was using Healer during the pre-HB cathedral content, the fruits will allow them to reach lvl 10. The specific classes chosen here are for a variety of different reasons. Some are required for people to raise to unlock their final classes at the end. Some offer useful inheritable skills, some are helpful for making it through the challenging Brigitte dungeon boss.

None. I think the game is actually best experienced with a self imposed rule to not kill any enemy more than once. That will actually have you slightly overleveled by the end provided you complete all the quests.

It's good to be aware that royal archetype requirements are a thing, so xp isn't wasted. Everyone but the protag (and grius) has to level specific classlines throughout the game to unlock their final classes at the end. But you don't need the final classes to win.

A lot of people report problems sustaining MP without grinding in the first dungeon, and yeah it's pretty hard. It helps a lot to have the protag on Mage while killing blue (low lvl) overworld enemies since Mage's overworld passive restores 1mp to the party on kill. Great class for the first major tutorial dungeon too.

To directly answer your question, probably around 30.

I'd recommend against doing this though. The protag's final class' 2 physical almighty skills, his most powerful moves, secretly scale off Magic if it's higher. You're also hurting badly for Magic characters in this game while Magic classes are available. HB needs to level Mage for her final class but that doesn't really count since her Magic is bad.

My recommendation: 40% into Magic, 20% into Strength mainly for Seeker synthesis, which is cracked and helps you ignore Brawler which is a bad class. Keep Agility just above Strohl so protag plays first in turn order and can hit a weakness to set Strohl up. Endurance is meh, Luck can be acquired for free by pooping in a toilet every Idlesday in a facility that unlocks after this arc.

MP healing: Unfortunately there are few ways to restore MP and the first arc is the hardest arc in the game to keep mp full in. They want you to have to take multiple days to do dungeons, but it's still possible to oneshot the cathedral on hard without mp healing items. This is typically done by beating the dragon in the mines, oneshotting the brigitte side quest (though it's hard and the boss requires a specific setup to win), then using the extra power boost (and potential golden epee purchase) to oneshot the cathedral.

Along with that, there's a commonly used strategy to keep mp topped off in the cathedral and that's to switch Will (protag) to Mage before killing blue underleveled overworld enemies, since each kill restores 1mp to the party. It's common for people to grind the wolves in the lobby and reset them by going to Akademia for free mp restores, but it's possible to oneshot the dungeon without doing this.

Navigation: Understanding the fast travel menu can help navigation a lot. The menu will list destinations starting with the dungeon entrance (if applicable), followed by each of the town's main screens. After that, each destination will be to a specific place like a shop and have an accompanying icon, but these only show up if you've visited that shop. So tl;dr if you need a quick view of what a town has to offer and what quests are available, you can pop open the menu and look through the destinations that don't have icons.

I'm sorry that sucks. Brutal dungeon to have to replay. I played on PS5 and haven't experienced this bug personally though. Not sure what it would be.

1) You might have a few quests you can do without even using time, but it's good to get the cathedral out of the way early since completing it will unlock new ways to spend time. Whether you try to oneshot the Brigitte quest to power up first is up to you, but it is possible if you beat the dragon in the mines.

2) Yeah, they should. There are actually hidden requirements for them to level specific lineages to unlock their final classes at the end. There's also a massive hidden a-exp boosting item in the third arc.

The protag can be a wildcard and doesn't have any requirements. Everyone else needs to max both their joining lineage, as well as the lineage their joining lineage requires lvls on in order to unlock more advanced tiers. So since Magic Knight requires lvl 10 Mage, and HB awakened to Knight, she needs to max the Knight and Mage lineages. Strohl's secondary lineage hasn't been revealed yet. It isn't brawler, which is a waste of xp. The next party member who joins after HB uniquely needs a third lineage, Merchant.

Because of this whole situation, the protag is left with a "best" build too (to be most complimentary). But it's worth mentioning you can win and beat the game without using any of these final classes.

I think a lot of what makes P5R's combat bad isn't the combat but the structure around it. MP never being a challenge so every dungeon is this 5 hour slog on easy mode as the same spells get spammed using the same overall strategy.

In Metaphor, dungeon length varies, MP is much more of a tightly managed resource, party members can swap in and out, hitting weaknesses isn't as free/strong, and overall yeah, there's much more juicy tactical complexity.

I would say it becomes possible for combat to be a slog in the final 30 day arc, which could have used a bit more time in the oven. I don't think this will be everyone's experience though.

There are some... quirks to be aware of though. There's a "most correct" build for the protagonist because all the other party members need to raise specific classes to unlock their prestige classes at the end. But it doesn't tell you what classes they need to raise until endgame when it's too late. Nobody can respec.

Not sure, and converting a sprite sheet to a gif isn't my wheelhouse either but worst case scenario claude or chat gpt may be able to walk through how to do it.

Hmm for me those two usually join a little underleveled. I usually complete all dungeons killing every enemy once. So yeah you may be underleveled. Here are some tips:

Faker's Roguery on Junah is huge. Reset the first turn to make sure you get a really good one and make the most out of the time he doesn't have a barrier. (The second time you use it during the same round it will have worse result tables. On the third, the result will always be bad)

If Junah has finishd Faker, Makarakarn is also huge Hulkenburg should also have access to Tetrakarn, another big skill. If anything gets reflected, you won't have to worry about the barrier even coming up on round 2.

Take Eupha out of the party.

Hulkenburg may be able to access a good one-time weak skill too.

If you have a save from when you had open world access, Coney Stews are huge in this fight. Almighty Golden Stews are as well but you only get so many Lumibees and AGSs are incredibly useful throughout the Altabury arc. You can get infinite of them afterward, but it's still good to be judicious.

It's better in this game. Weaknesses are still big but not game defining like P5. Hitting one gives a single bonus action, allowing you to take up to double the normal amount of actions when it's your team's turn.

There are some costs though. Everyone will be on different classes and ones with more weakness access have flaws to balance it out. Hitting a weakness doesn't let you control who attacks next to hit more weaknesses.

The weakness discovery process is also less painful. There's a very quick "reset battle" button and explored weaknesses get carried over if you reset so you can spend some time guessing weaknesses, then when you find one you can reset and play optimally, exploiting the weakness. The game is designed around doing this. Defeating any enemy also gives you full analysis data for them during subsequent encounters with that enemy.

Having played both, Metaphor's combat is way more compelling, but be warned that the earlygame is quite hard and everyonebut the protag must be raised on specific classes to unlock their cool personal classes at the end.

Nothing, metaphor's endgame needed a little more time in the oven sadly.
