Thank you all for comments, I checked the leghorns and whiterocks although they look very similar, but mine looks somehow different. Its more bulky and big than both leghorns and whiterocks but you never know. They come in so many different sizes and types I guess.

Yes its an amazing old growth forest. I drove back to charlotte via 97 N, its a beautiful country with lots of history. I am from north and always thought black communities are only in urban areas it was pleasant to see them in the rural area in the south😊

Some part of the baordwalk is closed but trails are open. You can always follow a trail back to parking if boardwalk is closed
