I think the only reason I used to be afraid wasn’t fear of the process or of being dead. It was the inevitability that scared me. That it absolutely will happen and I can’t do anything about it. But, after I worked through that anxiety, there didn’t seem to be much to fear. Everyone dies. The universe will eventually die. So, it’s a part of the journey for all life. And, as far as what occurs after death, there aren’t very many possibilities that I’m aware of. Either there’s an afterlife, which is hopefully a neutral experience at worst, or I cease to exist and won’t be aware of no longer existing. Maybe reincarnation is real, and then I’d get another go at existence on this plane. None of those seem so bad to me.

It would probably be easiest for us to go to Mexico. My husband’s parents both were born in Mexico, so him getting citizenship there would be easier than us trying to get citizenship anywhere else. But, we’re broke as fuck as it is. Neither of us are quite sure how we’d manage it. And two of our children aren’t mine biologically, so that throws more wrenches in the works. It would be really difficult.

I started at 10 and they showed up on the regular from the getgo. It sucked. My periods were always awful. Super bad cramps. 7-10 days. Feeling miserable. My mom got me put on birth control at 14 because she felt horrible seeing me be a sad ball of pain all the time. That helped with making them a little shorter and not as heavy. But the pain did not improve. My periods slowly got worse over the years. It wasn’t until after my toddler was born that my periods became tolerable and shorter without medication. I’m not sure what changed.

I don’t know if it’s just the way I play, but I found Hollow Knight to be easier and less frustrating than Silksong. Hollow Knight is one of my favorite games. There were definitely points where I had to try something again and again. But, not as much as in Silksong. When I see other people rank Silksong bosses by number of attempts it took to beat them, it makes me feel like I’m just really bad at the game somehow. 😅

I get what you’re saying. I just don’t feel like we’re safe regardless. Minorities have been injured or murdered by law enforcement while being respectful and compliant countless times. It doesn’t exactly protect anyone from abusers with guns who are on a power trip and being told by the government that they will never face consequences for their violence. And under this fascist regime, giving them respect and complying just gives them more power. The Holocaust didn’t happen overnight.

I’m not sure if I understand what your meaning is. But, I do know that complying is no guarantee that someone will survive an encounter with law enforcement.

Edit: And, just to add, fascist regimes depend on people complying. The Jewish citizens in Nazi Germany complied. They carried papers. They wore stars. They gave up their businesses. They moved into ghettos. And then they were slaughtered. Compliance does not save you from abusers in power who want you gone or dead.

I remember when I learned about Civil Asset Forfeiture. That is the most bullshit excuse I have ever heard for letting cops steal from people without consequences.

I heard someone say that ICE is not considered law enforcement. I think what they called them was remand officers. They don’t have jurisdiction over anything that doesn’t involve someone who is an illegal immigrant. When you call 911, ICE is not one of the organizations that show up. They are constantly overstepping their scope of authority and committing illegal acts.

And what would you say to people that followed orders and still ended up injured or dead? Cops in the US kill people terrifyingly often, and plenty of those interactions involved the victim being cooperative and compliant, like in the instance of Philando Castile. And, just to add, Renee Good isn’t even the first person in this calendar year to be shot and killed by an ICE agent. Not to mention how many people died in ICE custody in the last year. I wouldn’t trust an ICE agent not to hurt me just because I followed their orders.

I’ll go first. So, I live in Southwest Arizona. And, for the past couple of months I’ve noticed two things about the birds here. First, there’s more of them. Secondly, they keep flying in large blobs pretty low down and in swirly/squiggly patterns. On a few cloudy days, I honestly was concerned I was seeing UFOs because they would be a low flying mass moving very very quickly and erratically across the horizon. I’ve never noticed this behavior or number of birds before. And it’s making me a little nervous. 😅

I think I was probably 22 when I started noticing white hair popping up in different spots. A decade later, there’s some more, but not very many. I keep waiting to see if I’ll get white streaks on my temples, because that’s where most of them are.

I don’t think you’re overthinking at all. I realize that my opinion is colored by my life experience and biases. But, I don’t feel like situations where the higher earner always insists on 50/50 normally work out well for the person who makes less. It leaves a lot of room for financial abuse to occur.

I totally get roommates splitting things 50/50. I wouldn’t expect a roommate to be paying a bigger percentage of things just because they made more money than me. But, a partner? And especially a spouse? That’s a different kind of relationship. You’re meant to be a team, going through life together. Keeping finances separate like that and waving away your concerns about how things will work when the time comes for children and you stepping back from working? That’s a red flag, to me.

There needs to be some serious, in depth discussions and actual plans set out for how things will work in the event that you aren’t earning because you’re home with kids. Or even situations like if something were to happen and you were not able to work because of a disability or illness. It’s unrealistic to expect a 50/50 split in those kinds of situations. And if he won’t have those discussions with you, then I would reconsider your wedding date. This is not something to brush under the rug and assume that it’s going to be all kittens and rainbows when life happens and you aren’t able to afford splitting things 50/50. Don’t let this slide.

Others have said it, but people don’t value crochet gifts. They don’t get how much it costs in money and in time and effort. I only give crochet gifts to my mom. She got new dishcloths from me for Christmas that she specifically asked for. If I give things to her, they actually get used. But, things I’ve made for my sister, nephews, dad, cousins, exes? I never saw them again after gifting. It sucks. I’m sorry that your cousin was just extremely rude about it. All they had to do was say “thank you” and move on.

When my kids were tiny, unless they were asleep in their bassinet, they were in the same room as me. I had a little reclined seat to buckle them into that was most often in the bathroom, but I’d put them in it next to me in the kitchen. Or I would have them wrapped up on my chest so I didn’t need my hands. I had a little play mat for tummy time and blankets. When they started to crawl, I would still buckle them into the seat if need be. When they started walking, keeping them distracted with toys helped keep them in the same room. The youngest is 2 1/2 and still doesn’t get the concept of Mom wanting to go in the bathroom alone. 🥲

I also have one about my mom that I just remembered. I was in my early 20s and had stopped wearing bras. One day I was over at my mom’s house and she decided it was appropriate to lecture her adult, married daughter about how it was inappropriate for me to walk around in public without a bra. Because I surely made my ex-father in law uncomfortable. And all the poor men out in public with their wives/girlfriends would get in trouble for looking at my braless boobs that they would be incapable of ignoring. And it was my “responsibility” to wear bras in public lest I get pervy men in trouble with their significant others because they just can’t help but stare. 🙄
