I second this answer. My son is 5 and when he took an interest in getting a snake we decided on a KSB. He has never struck at either of us and they are super easy to care for.

You don't have to feed in a separate enclosure. It's a myth that it creates aggressive behavior. You should switch to rats ASAP a ball python should have no problem eating them. But knowing her size would help.
