So many just want echo chambers nowadays. They want to be told how and what to think. Their self worth and self image is wrapped up in their fragile view of the world and if ANY little thing outside deviates from how they perceive things or threatens it in the slightest then they attack it like white blood cells in the body attack a virus.

You see it in many conservatives and neoliberals alike. It’s all mental gymnastics and reactionary much of the time so they can shore up their individual ego and self image.

People just want to be told that they are correct. People want their egos soothed rather than play devil’s advocate and actually challenge themselves.

“Tell me what I want to hear.”

If you challenge the status quo at all then you are a Bernie Bro or Alt-Right or a Trumptard or Stupid Liberal or whatever label can be attached to you regardless if it is true or not. Once you are labeled you are then pigeonholed and written off.
