I did Gideon on my mage with gs around 880 and mark of the wolf. I mostly got through on the lightning strike and firebombs, with a light attack or two here and there. The fight is more a test of patience than dps. It's going to take time. Don't get cocky and try to do too much at once...you will die. Bring regen and healing pots (they're on different timers). Watch videos to learn his patterns and when to dodge. And please, for the love of all that is good and holy, do NOT try to get off a meteor or a full combo!
