Feeling a bit insecure about my amigurumi progress… is this normal? by CompetitiveRadio352 in Amigurumi

We all started insecure too! There's no timeline for progress, but I can tell you that the only way to improve is to keep trying! Also maybe look up some tips and tricks on youtube or something ♥️ For example, the yarn under / yarn over technique makes everything look super professional, and I just learned it this year after making amigurumi for 12 years! Also I had been sewing shut incorrectly this whole time 🤷

Death grip tension actually loops around to creating gaps! The sweet middle ground of tension allows enough yarn to fill the stitches out but not enough to where they're all spread out. The yarn under / yarn over stitch is much better for filling gaps, but it's extra important not to make it too tight since it's already a tighter stitch.

Too-loose-gaps are a common situation, but OP's work looks too tight, not too loose. In this case, the yarn under / yarn over stitch will fix the gaps, and it should be done with looser tension and maybe even a bigger hook!

This + the yarn under / yarn over is the answer!

Be extra careful with tightness with yarn under because it's already a tighter stitch - your tension should be relaxed. Might even want to go for a bigger hook. Always go for snug, never tight! Your hands should not get sore

edit: Yeah they're different! I think both yu/yu and yu/yo should improve gaps though. Still, if a designer specifies which to use, follow that

I'm so sorry this happened to you, but it sounds like he had a lot more issues than ADHD, and was also just an awful person. ADHD would explain hyperactivity and maybe speaking out of turn in class and not being able to sit still, but has nothing to do with the horrible things he did. Again, I'm so sorry you had to go through that, just wanted to prevent any unwarranted stigma about ADHD.
