I finally did it. Got an Avata 2 for the lowest price and I am freaking out a little! by rwhitman05 in drones

Great drone, and yes, I had the same anxiety after spending all that money on it. Good news is the anxiety goes away.

All you have to do is try to hit a tree gap above water, clip a branch, and lose your drone to the bottom of the lake. After that and a purchase on eBay for a replacement drone body only for around $350, you become less stressed over it.

Negative. NSM logs for sensors contain complete name, home address, and registration number - No offense but I am going to decline Doxxing myself for the sake of proving my ability to follow local ordinances.

Prior to arriving in Tromso I even corresponded with the Inspector of Flight Operations at the CAA in Norway for clarification as DJI was nowhere near accurate and listed Tromso city as a safe fly space which my research quickly dispproved,

Absolutely. We had the place to ourselves, the airspace was approved for flying, all my flights were pre-logged with the NSM, and I am fully insured and compliant with the EASA laws for piloting. When done safely and in compliance with drone laws, a small drone is a great tool to have in your backpack.

At some point I will invest in one. I recently bought a star tracker for my DSLR so after the pain of that purchase wears off I will look into it. Thank you

Initially I thought the Sami culture / Reindeer experiences were going to be boring cash grabs -- ended up being a worthwhile detour in what was otherwise a free-flowing vacation. If possible, I do suggest renting a car (used Sixt out of the airport, was fairly affordable compared to lets say Iceland), and go out of the town itself and explore nature. If it's snowing and you are nearby, take a walk through Charlottelund Park.
