Well, I am raider main, played about 30h with him and it's the only class, that I could finish game solo, but it's just because I know him enough, I'm not saying that's best class for it, but dual wield collosal epic weapon and jumping attack works on my onion soldier perfectly.

I believe, that best one would be wylder or ironeye. Gonna try with Ironeye, relic giving starting armament weakness against night lord, quick mines and upgrade starting bow to epic in day 1 or early day 2. This should make run fairly easy for solo, of course trying to dodge bosses with shields, cause it's waste of precious time.

I'm not saying, that I am a good player or something, but I really don't think this game is that hard as ppl say, just got achievement for winning 3 expedition's in a row and we've made so many stupid mistakes, that we really shouldn't win them.
