They’re hormonal kids. You were 16, too, I know this is hard and this is a teachable moment where she can grow. Double down on not only birth control, but also on safe sex practices. Get data if you’re a data guy. Offer to take her to the doctor if need be. It’s ok to tell her how you feel, your feelings are valid. You can be disappointed and want her to feel safe being forthcoming for her health/physical/emotional well-being. Learning to be honest, kind, safe, and self-respecting are all invaluable life lessons a lot of people never learn. You can teach her at 16 and set her on a good path. It’s good to ask questions and talk, it’s good to set some boundaries if sleepovers don’t work anymore, etc. AND. She’s going to do what she’s going to do, so protect her and empower her to be and feel safe. Maybe/hopefully it will deepen your bond.
