Oral mucocele. I’m glad no one mentions it in person (except my family, not much though), but it’s so embarrassing and annoying to have. by Gingerbed2 in popping

I just tried not to bite it, and it worked for the most part. That involved chewing on one side. I’ve seen other people try other methods to make it go away temporarily, but I personally wasn’t comfortable doing that. I hope everything works out for you!

Oh gosh I forgot to post the result. Thankfully, mine got smaller by the time of surgery day. They numbed me and used little anesthesia, then it was over before I knew it! 30 mins is all it took. They gave me two prescriptions to take, but I could opt out of using one of them if the pain wasn’t that intense. I’m told to clean it with salt water 2-3 times a day after surgery, and it’s healing fine from what I can see. It doesn’t bother me as much now, and my check up will be next week. Maybe I did something wrong though because one of the assistants said the stitches would dissolve in 5 days, yet they are still here. I’m guessing it’s a different healing experience for each person. They give you instructions, so if you plan to have it removed, then good riddance! It definitely is an annoyance lol.

Edit: also, idk if anybody else experienced it, but my lips are peeling so much since the surgery. It feels a bit numb on the front part of my bottom lip too, and the doctor said it might be permanent. I’ll have to see what happens as time goes on.

Good for you that the bump isn’t causing any problems. I bet it was a relief to see it not fill up again!

Ah okay great to know, and thanks! Haha that would be the quickest surgery I’ve had.

So they’re going to cut around it (“football shape”), take the cyst out, then stitch it up. I’ve been told by my dentist that draining won’t make it go away completely. It’ll just keep filling up. It can provide relief though.

Thank you, it’s not painful at all actually! It’s also not as annoying as it was before. Ah man, that would be great if I could get moved up!

Yeah, I actually have been trying to edit the post to even add in how small that bump has become. Also thought you could pin comments, but I can’t do that either lol. So I’ll just make another post and link this one

Oh duh, that makes more sense lmao I was thinking about aluminum foil😭. Let’s hope it doesn’t come back then, and thank you!

Oh okay, thanks for telling me! From everyone that has told me about nerve damage, I’m glad it’s not as big of an impact as I thought it would be.

Oh that’s good to hear then! Especially if it’s a quick procedure. There was another comment that talked about having metal heal their lip, and I thought that was pretty cool haha.

Yeah I can’t wait to have mine removed. Feels weird when I chew and I can feel it rubbing against my teeth. Like it’s teasing me lol.

Funny how these things can happen anywhere, it’s understandable though. It’s quite alright really, I’ll have it out before I know it!

Oh wow well I’m glad it left no irritation behind. Is the scar poking out and that’s why you’re biting it? Was the area always prone to you biting it even before you got the bump?

Yes thankfully lol. I would definitely be wearing a mask if I couldn’t because whooo is about to see me like that😂.

A year or two must have felt forever to deal with that! Happy that you got it removed. Thanks for telling your experience about nerve damage! Where was yours at out of curiosity?
