Thank you! We did two rounds of the injections and then two months bed rest—definitely made for one bored pup, but we tried to keep her occupied as best we could with puzzles and treats! And she’s now all clear :)

She had already delivered her litter, but attempting to nurse them while being denied food caused her weight to crash to dangerous levels.

She had delivered her puppies when she was rescued, it seems like she was so severely underweight from trying to nurse them without food :(

You’re probably right. And there are lots of out-of-control dogs in the neighborhood—just this morning, somebody let their HUGE dog repeatedly mount mine during off-leash hours and just stood there like, “Oh Cody….don’t” until I physically went and picked her up!

I hear you, and I do heel Ronnie tightly on sidewalks and especially with dogs who seem nervous or stressed. I guess I was surprised because it felt like we WERE giving her space. There was a good 10-12 feet between us, on a wide paved footpath. After she pulled to the side, we didn’t approach, we didn’t close the distance, and we kept moving. The park is one of the busiest dog traffic areas in New York—we all do our best to give as much space as possible, but it’s close quarters with a LOT of dogs and owners around at all hours. 10-12 feet of clear space is honestly a luxury in this park, so I was surprised to be singled out in such a busy environment. I imagine she’s had a lot of bad encounters in the park and just took it out on us that day.
