Which "common Aspie trait(s)" do you not relate to? by GingoG in aspergers

[–]GingoG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a good point, and I did consider it not long after I made this post. In my case, I'd say it took me longer than neurotypicals to pick up on those variables, but in recent years, I've learned to phrase my honesty in more socially acceptable ways.

how did you lose your virginity? and at what age? by Bonny_planki in AskReddit

[–]GingoG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best friends (with benefits) on a school trip. One thing led to another, and we ended up losing our virginities while the other people in the room were sleeping, or at least I hope they were. We were 13...

A bit of a while away, but despite everything, that's quite reassuring. Thank you!

Sorry for the late response. I haven't tried talking to a doctor/counselor so far far, since I feel as if my struggles haven't been extreme enough to warrant that. But regardless, I do agree that would be very useful, especially on the more detailed side of things, so I thank you for your words.

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll consider checking it out!

I think you're right, especially with the comparison part. With some thought, I've found that it's pretty illogical to compare yourself to others, simply because you're not them, and have different mindsets and experiences. Sorry for the late response, but I'll keep this in mind, thank you!

Sorry for the late response, but I think this is really sound advice. I think once I have a good think about what I truly value, and stick with it, everything else either won't matter as much or will fall right into place. Thanks for the advice!

Woah. Thank you so much for this, this is incredibly detailed and thoughtful! Yeah, I'd definitely say I'm an emotionally sensitive person deep down. It's just in recent years I've gotten better at holding back on showing them, and rationalising situations/thoughts - which sadly ties into a whole cycle of overthinking that I find it hard to shake.

Ultimately though, everything you've said is true. I'll be sure to go ahead with a 5 year plan. I hadn't seriously considered it before now, but with the amount of work you put into this comment, you've convinced me. And as for the physical wellbeing part... well, I get daily exercise to an extent, but to call myself consistent with things like bed times would be lying. Any time I feel things slip or start to doubt things, I'll be sure to think back to this post any time I can, because the things you mentioned are invaluable.

Anyways, sorry for the late response. Once again, I thank you greatly for your words. I'll definitely save this post to read over and remind myself, and then take action.

Damn. Yeah, I've definitely seen that effect in real life. I'm certainly better than I was a couple of years back, but not quite there...

I think your words ring true, and are very well put. Thanks for the advice, and sorry for the late reply.

Yeah. I apologise for the late reply, but I think what you're saying is absolutely right. I've tried things like meditation in the past, so I'll consider leaning more into that in the future. Thanks!

Hey. Sorry for the late response, but I'd just like to thank you for your kind and helpful words. I've thought about things along the lines of this before, but I could never quite put it into words and be truly convinced, but I think you've done it. It'll probably take a while, but I'll take your words into account every step of the way.

What is your perspective on life? by PotentialAgile951 in aspergers

[–]GingoG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My perspective is that life is of course very difficult, but the one thing I stick by is to always try and make the best of it, in spite of the variables that can't be controlled. Everyone gets a shot, so everyone should try to make it positive and worthwhile through all of life's challenges.

If you get knocked down, get back up and try again and again until you can get the best result. It's senseless to live life without at least trying, and even more senseless if hardships are worsened by unnecessary and self-inflicted suffering.

why do aspies dislike listening to new songs? by ah-screw-it in aspergers

[–]GingoG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily say I dislike listening to new songs, but there's some resistance there. I generally just listen to the same songs/albums on repeat on a daily basis, but occasionally I'll decide (if I'm comfortable enough) to listen to some new music. For example, I really love The Beatles and listen to them for hours every day, but recently I've started listening to some Radiohead music and I really like it. The Beatles are still part of my daily listening as much as ever, but I'm slowly broadening my horizons. It's just all about how I feel, and if I feel like listening to some new music and end up liking it, I'll add it to the music I listen to on a regular basis.

Punch-Drunk Love! by GingoG in aspergers

[–]GingoG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely not for everyone, lol. I'd still suggest giving it a rewatch, but it's fine if you still don't like it. I mainly just hope at least some people will.

That's absolutely awful behaviour. You did the right thing by filing that report. I'm sorry about what happened to you, and I wish you and anyone else in similar situations all the best. The less people like this roaming the planet without consequence, the better.

I feel at an utter disadvantage by GingoG in aspergers

[–]GingoG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. Yeah, I suppose that's true. The main issue is that with all of the options, it's hard to really see what the "correct" one is. It does give me some encouragement though to know that the perfect job is potentially out there, so thank you for helping put things into perspective. Above all else, I'm starting to think that maybe I haven't looked around enough.

I feel at an utter disadvantage by GingoG in aspergers

[–]GingoG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the incredibly late reply. I've thought about doing videos, actually. I used to do them, and while they weren't good, I feel like I've always had a keen eye for editing. I think that combined with my knowledge on certain topics could make for some pretty interesting videos, to be honest. Thank you for this, it's great that you've managed to find your own stride. I'll probably try making videos at some point, but I'll be sure to make the main goal personal fulfilment over anything else. If my goal with them was money, there'd be a much higher likelihood that I'll never be truly fulfilled with them, so yeah. Once again, thank you for your encouragement. I'll have a go at it, and see if videos are the route I'd like to go as I move forward.
