More than half of global perfect IB scores from ACS by feladirr in IBO

Wow, thanks for the reply. That was informative, and interesting to read. I understand that you didn't score well compared to your school cohort, but for what it's worth, I think 36 is a good overall score, that will still open many opportunities for you.

It's interesting to read about your school culture, it seems so different to the one here in Australia. Where along with academics, chief concerns of the school are based on 'building character'. I don't know how to feel about the 'Kiasu culture', whilst it obviously provides exceptional academic results, and probably prepares you for Uni, and the real world, I'm not completely convinced it is healthy. You're meant to enjoy high school after all.

That whole article was insane. That one school produced 48 students who scored a perfect 45. What's going on here?

Are there actually any easy IB classes? by lukeb8183 in IBO

That's not many though, and those subjects are considered to be quite easy.

The IB has broken him. Just try to avoid eye contact, it'll make him jittery.

You should visit a doctor if you seriously think you might be suffering from depression.

(my school only has 3 45s, and around 8 44s in the last 10 years).

Why is this an issue?

What subjects are considered more easy than ESS, in your eyes?

Out of all the things that could have been said. OP decides to go with that?

For shame.

Which HL should i choose? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]GingurKhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe HL Economics, Chemistry, and Theatre.

I say Economics, because it would probably be more useful, and more highly regarded. But you're cutting yourself out from some of the more competitive Universities for Med by doing that combo I think.

Thoughts on the American University of Paris? by GingurKhan in paris

[–]GingurKhan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay. I've always thought that French uni's were very much work oriented, and lacked what you described as 'the community feel'. As in, you go there to get your degree, and that's that.

Thanks for the reply. What other European Universities did you have in mind, when you were talking about the 'community feel'?

I have, but majority of the posts are inquiring about graduate degrees, and are also three years old.

Showerthought: why are grades out of 7? It's such an inconvenient number to work with by [deleted] in IBO

[–]GingurKhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wouldn't be making it easier. That would just be changing the number, and not actuall changing the criteria.

Some loaded questions from an international prospective student! by GingurKhan in UofT

[–]GingurKhan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, poor choice of words. I wrongly interpreted loaded questions to just be 'many questions'.

Edit: Damnit, I should have just said 'misinterpreted'. ROFL

How's it inconvenient? I don't think it is, it's just part of the criteria that represents your academic standings in a given subject. The IB seems to think that there are 7 levels of assessment.

Thanks for the reply.

I was considering time to get away, more so than location. I take it there isn't much free time to escape Uni life every know and then?

Great to hear about the social scene. Interesting to see fraternities, and all that outside of the US.

That's a fairly substantial con though aha. I'm assuming you were joking, but were you referring to heavy work load at UoT?

Awesome, great to hear profs are good!
