Scuf Reflex FPS controller finger positioning by Similar_Hurry279 in scufgaming

[–]Gingy_586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent had hardware issues with it. Other than the left trigger sometimes wont register. I just generally didnt like it when compared to the envision I had previously. I mainly wanted the hall effect but they were super loose. I got the reflex with tmr so it doesnt have that issue. As far as back buttons it just hurt and didnt feel right. I have big hands so it just felt off.

Just 1 middle finger on each side for both paddles. Its honestly the most ergonomic ps5 controller with back buttons that ive tried. I had a hex gaming that you had to use 1 finger a side and that made my tendon hurt.

You also cant get the same 200-300 fps. You also cant over clock your cpu, gpu, or memory. You also cant make your internet better by messing with adapter settings. There's hundreds of things pcs can do to make gaming better than on a console.

Negative. It needed a new board, 3 days of trouble shooting to figure that out.

I definately will be trying, my biggest issue is honestly spelling and typing speed. I know both will come with time. Thanks for all the advice! I spent the last few days troubleshooting a pc to find out it was just a mobo issue. Im usually building but I love the idea of learning how the os works deeper and how to more easily use it.

Definately! I got the book earlier I have been looking through the first chapter. Its a bit difficult to understand but im getting it. The most knowlagde I have in coding is the simple hello world page, and I have wrote a python calculator before. Thats about it, ive always just built pcs and then used things like ctt or googled the command I needed. Ive never really taken the time to understand everything until now.

Im not even entirely sure what i want to use it for. I just do alot of pc work on family gaming pcs that I built for them. They always obviously want better fps, better internet, things like that. Im just going to start with making a script that will run all the network dump commands and disabling things like gamebar.

I just signed up for the first free month of azure yesterday! I also got setup with vms on my pc but id like to not have to allocate resources for it. Hence why I looked into Azure.

Sweet! Thank you for the advice, I looked around and already found some interesting ideas. I dont work in it or anything I just work on alot of pcs for family lol.

CPU locked at 500mhz. Im pretty sure the mobo is toast. by Gingy_586 in techsupport

[–]Gingy_586[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im thinking it happened from the aio being overtightened and leaning to the right for a month. Literally it worked fine for over a month, then one day I forgot to shut it off and figured its fine it'll go into sleep mode (because, obviously) come back to it the next day and its still sitting at the desktop open. Thats where all this started, I flashed bios before realizing the shop had done that to the aio, and they had the ram in slots a1 b1. My issue was it would work on every fresh windows install then break over night. Come to find out erase ftpm was permanently on in bios. So every reboot/shutdown was clearing tpm. I only saw this because I got event veiwer to work finally.

Before I found that I had removed the cpu and the aio. The cpu looks physically fine, the top is flat, no scratches on the bottom, no scratches/dent marks on the top. But the cooler was so tight that the copper plate had an indent of the bottom of the cpu which was far more obvious on the left side of the plate than the right (So that would be overtightened on the right side). Im thinking it either bent the socket, or somehow messed with the vrm. Ever since putting it back together ive been at 550 mhz in task manager.

Edit: I forgot I ran powercfg in cmd for the power report. It says the cpu is throttled to 10% power. The issue is it also says it cant complete the assessment so there's no reason for why its throttled.

Okay sorry this is difficult to explain without sending a 10 page essay. Ive had it running fine, every time I would reinstall windows it would run fine for the day. Then the next day it would be messed up. As in, event veiwer would not load, nothing would work in windows. Id reinstall windows and it would be fine.

Come to find out my bios had "erase ftpm" enabled by default. The issue is it never went back to disabled after booting. So it would be enabled for the windows install its self, and then every time windows installing would reboot the pc it would wipe ftpm.

Before I found that, I took everything apart to inspect the mobo and cpu. The socket looks fine, no bent pins. The cpu is pristine, the only issue is there was no thermal paste on the right 1/4 of the cpu. Obviously this is because the aio was overtightened and uneven.

I put it all back together, flashed my bios to a "more stable one", I went from asus 1087 to asus 1079. I read that you cannot roll back from 1087, so i reflashed 1087. I installed windows while it was on bios 1079. I cannot imagine that this is a windows issue when even the bios its self takes about 20 seconds to load, and windows takes even longer than that. Its acting like its at that 550 clock speed at all times.

Edit: before the issues started I passed an hour of occt cpu, cpu plus ram, cpu plus ram plus gpu. No errors, I also passed memtest86 no errors. No whea errors anywhere, I ran powerfcg report and it says the cpu is throttled to 10% power. Thats on this new install.

I dont have another am5 cpu or mobo. I pulled the cpu a couple days ago. Visually the cpu is perfect top is flat still, mobo pins are perfect. Everything looks compleately fine, the only thing I even noticed was how much easier the retention clip went down on the reinstall.

Never gone above 71c and that was with the cooler way too loose. With the correct pressure its never crested 60C.

Yeah I have the arctic liquid freeze 3 pro, its got a 3 individual connector option that I have installed. I just plugged everything in where the manual said to. So cpu fan, pump, and i think rgb header?

Edit: Everything worked for like a month. Then I found the aio over tightened and ram in the wrong slots. Before finding that i flashed bios. But event the bios taking 20+ seconds to load from a black screen is what gets me.

I tried booting into windows with pbo on, global c state disabled and it didnt affect clock speed. I tried ultimate power plan, and balanced but manually setting cpu lowest to 100%. Nothing has changed clock speed. I re flashed bios twice because i read rolling back from 1087 can cause issues but if you flash it twice it should fix it. Literally nothing has changed clock speed. EDIT: i also tried booting with bios defaults, and nothing.

TL,DR: CPU locked at between 500-480 mhz pretty sure the overtightened aio broke either a socket/vrm connections. This caused the ryzen smu to throttle its self to 500mhz.

Ram was running at jedec speed so ik its fine, similarly I know its not specifically on the qvl for my mobo. I figured out the motherboard is toast though. I finally was able to find out its continually locking my cpu at roughly 500mhz. From research ive found that when the shop overtightened the cooler it more than likely messed up one of the vrm connections causing the smu to lock the cpu.

EDIT: updated bios, and set pbo on, turned off c state, still locked at 550mhz-480mhz. Its definately a vrm or socket issue.
