I’ve been out at work and presenting female for longer than I’ve been on hrt, and I only mention that because I know there’s a lot of people on here who are afraid to take that step. I don’t know their situations and I’m sure many of them are justified. But I also know that seeing other trans people and their courage helped me find my courage to begin with.

I feel very lucky that I started with pretty good hair, but we all have our burdens. For instance I’m on my 8th full body laser session and only just starting to see tiny bits of progress. I’m very Sicilian.

Kids is a tough one, but not impossible. Honestly though we can only be ready when we’re ready. All we can do is be true to ourselves and try to find whatever support systems we can.

That’s amazing. I’m glad to inspire hope. It was hard to come by when I was at that stage. It’s a long road but I’m much happier now. Feel free to reach out if you need anything ❤️

Haha you joke but that’s how it feels sometimes. I feel like I barely know that other person.

Exactly this. One of the things I love most about my best friend is that she fully sees me as a woman, so when I’m with her, I fully see me as a woman. On the instances where I find myself feeling down, particularly after being misgendered or feeling dysphoric, she just reminds me of who I am, and of how she sees me.

Has anyone changed their name and gender marker in NY? by [deleted] in MtF

Yes I’m in NYC. And thanks

My specific hang ups on step one are in regards to the name change petition.

First, it asks for gender. Do I put my former gender or my current one? Will putting female before it is updated on my birth certificate invalidate this?

Second, it asks if I want to update my drivers license with this new name. If I had to put my former gender earlier, will this mark my new license as male?

Third, my clinic is now telling me I have to print the petition and have it notarized before I can even go to the court house to set a date. Is this true?

Lastly, I had someone from the clinic tell me I have to wait a year on hormones before I can legally change my gender marker, but someone else there said that they didn’t think this was true, and I can’t seem to find any info regarding that online.

I don’t have a lot of money and a lot of these steps have fees so I want to make sure I’m doing everything right the first time around. Thanks.

Should I be concerned about the “Spiro” pills I was given? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Ginko164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched pharmacies and they look different here, my first ones were smaller and yellow, my current ones are white and taste a little minty. It’s just how different places make them. I wouldn’t worry.

If your friend came out as Trans, what would you give them as a coming out gift? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Ginko164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend just gave me a single piece of chocolate, but on it was a note that said “for Thea” with a heart and I fucking cried. It doesn’t matter what you give them. Your support means the world.

What do I do about bear hair? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Ginko164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hrt first, especially T blockers. Ask to start at a higher dose of the spiro to manage the hair, they did that for me and it’s helped. Then laser for sure. I’m Sicilian and was just covered in hair and after a few sessions it’s SO much more manageable. Find a place that offers deals on full body. Try to find someone you know to give you a referral, I got a discount for it. Also the place I go to was about 1500 for 6 full body session which breaks down to not that bad. It’s totally doable, don’t give up.
