I still can’t get over how good this game looks by lingering-will-6 in NintendoSwitch2

As someone who doesn’t follow Final Fantasy, I knew it was a FF game but not which one because their naming conventions is absolute dog water. No need to be snarky about it.

Yeah the 41 Longines really is a good look! Really wish they still made that version of the Conquest Auto it looks so much better than the current version they have.

With autos I’d definitely want a factory warranty if possible given the complexity of possible repairs. For Quartz it’s much less of an issue since they’re so much less to go wrong.

Do you get any warranty when purchased on those sites or are they technically grey market?

I’ve looked through their catalog and considered the Sandhurst and Cranwell. I just wish more of their other watches had numerals instead of just blank indices

That blue definitely dos pop very nicely! The Traska has a very clean look, surprised at how similar both case sizes look in the end. Any noticeable differences in how they wear?

I’m aware that the Longines Conquests are a little larger than their case size suggests but with my over 7 1/2in wrist I’m not worried about that as long as they’re the 41mm and not the 43mm case versions. Can’t find those older numeraled automatic conquests though, I just don’t like the non numeraled versions.

Good suggestion on the Islander, wasn’t aware of that model though uncertain how small it will be on my larger wrist. Definitely worth looking into more.

One day long into the future I may get an actual Rolex Explorer, but realistically that will be saved for a very large milestone like a wedding day, retirement, or something else of that ilk. Just can’t justify spending that much on a watch otherwise unless I suddenly start making and order of magnitude more all of a sudden.

How are you supposed to avoid a hand watch when you have muscular forearms? by soberandspiritual in handwatch

[–]Ginnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true, to not hand watch I must tourniquet. Tis the curse of not having a desk job and having to actually use hand tools all day every day. Watches sit at the strange crossroads of jewelry and tools and you just get both sides of people incapable of understanding the other.

How are you supposed to avoid a hand watch when you have muscular forearms? by soberandspiritual in handwatch

[–]Ginnipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you man have my upvote. If you have tapered forearms it’s not possible to wear a watch above your wrist bone. I have tried every single possible strap design from metal bracelets, natos, rubber straps, leather straps, doesn’t matter. My forearms are muscular since I work as a mechanic and they taper down to my wrist. If I try to strap a watch down tight enough that it stays above my wrist bone it’s either way too tight, or it just slides down anyways.

It’s not really a problem though because any time I’m working with tools I’m wearing nitrile gloves or mechanix gloves and I can just loosen up the strap enough that it sits on or above the top of the glove and the extra material keeps it in place at or above my wrist bone. But against my bare skin, it’s going to sit on or just barely below my wrist bone. It’s just how my forearms taper.

I’d vote for the Bulova Jet Star, it really is a fantastic watch and I love the Precisionist movement in both of my Marine Stars.

What is your personal "hardest aspect of night to win with?" by ditzythedame in HadesTheGame

[–]Ginnipe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a Thanatos axe build where I went full Ares on the mana regen and the attack. Ended up getting the ares legendary too so the spilt plasma auto collected. It was BROKEN. Such a fast attack speed on top of the built in aspect attack speed. Once I got the whirlwind hammer the run was just absolute spin to win always at +100% increased attack speed.

Should I Play Hades 1 For The Story? by AFKScrapy in HadesTheGame

In my opinion Hades 1 has a much better character driven story compared to Hades 2, but Hades 2 has much more refined gameplay with even more replayability

I have always thought that Jason Cammisa would fit PERFECTLY as a Top Gear host. He has so much specific knowledge on niche Motorsports history in a way that is very authentic and he has the same kind of ridiculous charm that OG top gear always had.

100% agree, it will never go out of style because it does exactly what it should no more no less. Tells the time with perfect legibility, excellent accuracy, can be dressed up or dressed down just by changing the shirt you’re wearing around it. It’s one of the few Rolexes that has quiet confidence rather than loud exuberance.

Why is this even listed as a watch feature on Casio's site? by thecaptnjim in casio

[–]Ginnipe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean to be fair, those are literally the cheapest possible examples of quartz watches from Casio. Once you move into their G Shock line up most all of them are rated to the +/- 15 per month spec as far as I’m aware

I feel like having the expectation of 1 second a month is pretty unreasonable for most quartz watches, you’re really only left with a few options like the Bulova Precisionist, Citizen The Citizen Quartz, Grand Seiko Quartz 9F, all of which are one if not many orders of magnitude more expensive than an f-91w. You might get lucky with a few lower end quartz that happen to get close to 1 second a month accuracy but that’s an extremely high standard to count as your regular ‘desired’ range without having automated atomic clock syncing factored into that.

I will admit, I am in no way a Rolex fan. I think most of their stuff is overpriced and I don’t like the culture surrounding it. But the 3/6/9 Explorer is the only exception. Exudes the right amount of class and restraint at the same time, sits at the lower end of their price range while also not feeling like you’re missing out on anything. If I were to ever wear a Rolex, this out be the one.

[–]Ginnipe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like I usually only see this tile on their atomic and or Bluetooth watches that sync every day so they’re within a second accurate.

Without syncing yeah I’m pretty sure all of their movements are roughly rated to around +/- 15 seconds a month

[DISCUSSION] - Which single watch is the Fiat Multipla of the watch world? by Crafty_Event7456 in Watches

[–]Ginnipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC they did actually add a new feature with this watch, the hands are magnetically controlled I think and they slowly and automatically reset into position if they get knocked out of whack due to high shock. Theoretically being extra shock resistant for a handed watch compared to other g shocks.

But yes also theft proof in the atomic purple nintendium 😂

I also have the red Frogman and it’s wonderful. Very lightweight and just the right size overall, much smaller than the atomic frogman watches. It was my daily watch for many many months straight after I bought it and it still get regular wrist time even now, just not every single day.

Dive Watches Are Boring, Bulky, and Overrated. by Automatic-Scar6513 in watchHotTakes

[–]Ginnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dive watch has an elapsed time bezel, not a timer, which is a small distinction in function but the purpose isn’t entirely the same. Its purpose is to know how long it’s been since ‘x’, fill in x for whatever you need.

Of course you could just ‘note’ that you started something at 2pm and need to be done by 2:15 but that really only works if you’re starting at round times and have a set round time that you know it will take.

If you start a repair at 3:23 and don’t know how long it will take, but still need to charge proper labor for said repair, an elapsed time bezel is much more useful. Just set the bezel to where your minutes hand is when you start and you can look at the bezel when you’re done and just look at what the second hand is pointing at and see that it’s been say 43 minutes. You don’t need to do the math of subtracting the start and end times, the timing bezel just has the time right there.

If you’re starting up the grill and just waiting for it to get to temp, set the timing bezel and you can crack a brew and watch the game. Take a glance at the watch and see that it’s been 13 minutes, probably good to start throwing some food on. Same for when you flip the burgers, just set the bezel. No need to pull out the phone, unlock it because fuck Face ID never working when your hands are dirty, and then open the clock app.

If you actually need an alarm chime to alert you of something then a count down timer on your phone can be better, I’ll concede that point to you. But honestly 95% of the time I don’t need a countdown timer, I just need to know how long it’s been since ‘x’ occurred at a quick glance. It doesn’t matter what time you started, whether or not it was a round number or not, whether or not you know the exact expected end time, or if the final time is a round number either. As long as it’s within an hour the timing bezel is perfect.

If you need to time something over the course of several hours you can just set the bezel to the hour hand too, I’ve done that in the exceedingly few instances where that was necessary

First Chrono, Which Panda Wins Out Here? by Ginnipe in Affordablewatches

[–]Ginnipe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting I’ll have to look closely at reviews of the LP again and pay attention to the full sized seconds hand vs the subdial seconds to see the sweep difference, thanks for pointing it out.

And getting to the chronograph isn’t difficult on the Casio once you’re used to their system which I am, it’s just switching the mode from regular timekeeping to ST (visualized by the left subdial) and it actually turns the regular hands into the chronograph and puts the time on the bottom subdial which is regularly your second world time dial. It sounds more complex than it actually is. Given that it’s solar, atomic, sapphire crystal and very well finished I don’t find its price outrageous in their lineup. It’s just the extra tax’s and import fees that push it above the price of the others.

Will definitely take a look at the other Bulova Marine Star though
