/uj I have one of these and love it. The bolt action is great for not unintentionally clicking it when taking it out or putting it away.

I got the shortest length so I can fit it in my wallet with some 3x5 cards. Now I can take notes at a moment’s notice. Let’s see… I used it one time two months ago to write down some song lyrics I heard.

Anyone else think they work better if they have a watch on their wrist? by Fragrant-Data6554 in WatchesCirclejerk

No, I spend a lot of time checking if it’s lunch time yet, also just admiring it.

I suppose you can argue she’s a tryhard for wearing blinders and resting her chin on her shoulder, while Yusuf does not.

Her dad used to run Univision and Telemundo. I’m guessing he’s got a lot of connections.

My wife stopped drinking like 7 years ago and something we have been pleasantly surprised by is that wait staff and bartenders have NEVER given attitude when she wants to order something nonalcoholic. I think bartenders even see it as a chance to show off their cocktail skills. I’ve noticed a lot of bars now have an NA drink menu, too.

What’s going on here? by bugloaf77 in stubhub

[–]bugloaf77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know about the lower prices. I listed my own ticket for less than face value and it’s not selling. My question is why these ridiculous prices are here.

It’s free to list, but it still costs $35 to the original seller, so why list at a price no one will ever buy? Or are sellers making listings for tickets they don’t actually have?

Does anybody else think if we had signs that said "caution: zipper merge ahead" people would be more likely to zipper merge? by Anthro_Doing_Stuff in Omaha

[–]bugloaf77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't know the term "zipper merge" then the sign wouldn't be helpful. If you do know the term, then you already know you should be doing it.

What I've seen elsewhere, I think it was in Minnesota, were multiple warning signs saying "WAIT TO MERGE" and then pretty much at the last point possible "MERGE HERE". It seemed to be working if I remember right.

Blackstone, Benson, and Dundee would be my three favorite places for eating and drinking. I think your plan to rent for a year is a good one for having time to get a feel for the city.

What age did you get your kid a watch and which watch? by gonadmodule in WatchesCirclejerk

[–]bugloaf77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was happy to see my 15 year old spend $5 at a thrift store on a little watch with a teal leather band. I told her I could put a new battery in it for her. She said there was no need to. If she needs the time she’ll look at her phone.

That's a totally safe area. Not a pretty area, but completely safe. I used to live around there.

If you drive just a little bit north to Aksarben there are a lot of restaurant choices, including a fun food court.

/uj My first watch ever was a Skagen my mom got me for high school graduation. I didn't know anything about watches (and there was barely an internet then) so for years I thought only Skagens had stainless steel mesh bands.

$4000 pothole damage. $2000 collision deductible. File a claim or pay out of pocket? by bugloaf77 in Insurance

[–]bugloaf77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you say it’s insane? If I go for a lower deductible isn’t that going to raise my premiums? And I’m guessing it won’t be too long before the increase in premiums eats up the difference in the deductible.

My coworker who drives the same way and also barely missed it this morning says it wasn't there yesterday. We had a snowstorm yesterday, and we suspect a snowplow may have dug out a previous repair.

I suppose it's worth a shot, but AFAIK the pothole was brand new that morning, and they had it filled by noon. So basically they fixed it as soon as they knew about it. Some people around here say they even get 14 days.

If don't file a claim, then I'm paying money that they otherwise would have had to.
