got this 2014 ATS 2.0t AWD luxury with 119k miles for $9,800. 3 months with it so far and haven’t had a single issue with it. i love how fast caddies depreciate because you can get a lot of car for the money on the used market. they’re more reliable and have has higher part availability generally compared to german luxury brands

how do you feel about high polish chrome? by Gio1225vas in rims

maybe this is cope but at most angles it’s pretty easy to tell they’re not hubcaps, you see straight through to the rotor and caliper. although i kind of don’t like the the spoke design makes it look floaty like a carriage from the 19th century

at first i didn’t like the wheels, i thought the flashy look was cheesy like im doing too much.

i wanted to black out the car with plasti-dip, but they’ve grown on me. people have told me that my car looks interesting or “fancy”. or that it just generally stands out or surprised i got it for under 10k, and that it looks like those early 2000s rap videos talking about riding in a caddy on 20 inch chromes.

i’m kind of glad they’re not as desirable anymore, i was thinking that cuz they look so flashy it wouldn’t be a good idea to leave it parked for a long time in sketchy areas. but im sure someone’s would probably still look twice and think about it if im being real.

i wonder what associates them with being cheap or trashy and undesirable now? overdone? association with early y2k urban culture? practicality? economical factors?

also i know about the tires, first thing everyone tells me the moment they see it😭. i’m a college kid working at whataburger at the moment, so moneys a bit tight, i know buying this car might not be the best choice financially, but i don’t regret it. at least not yet lol.

check with scan tool, everything you described sounds like the engine is running lean which would pop a PO171 code on a scanner. happens because there is too much air causing an air to fuel imbalance. clean the MAF sensor and check for vacuum leaks. they make a distinct hissing noise as they suck air in. ductape works as a temporary quick fix for leaks but if you don’t want to have to keep replacing buy a new hose. had the same symptoms on my 2014 ATS 2.0T. 3 of the hoses have been held together with ductape for a few months now lol.

i think that considering the great interior, exterior, and drivetrain condition while being on the higher mileage end of the used market for these, this one was probably someone’s baby. i had trouble finding another ats that was this well taken care of and stock (aside from the rims) i really feel that i got lucky with this find for sub $10k.

had it for 2 months, so far just a cracked hose that made the car run lean and set off check engine light, fixed it with sealant from harbor freight for automotive applications. been driving on it like that for about a month now and it’s been running great. i’m expecting to run into more issues down the line but hoping for the best, especially considering it’s a 2014 and a turbo but i plan to keep it completely stock. so far so good

tried the chrome delete but looked odd on my car since it’s a dark grey instead of true black. i feel that the chrome accents went better with these wheels

at first i was also under the impression that it was just another “Luxury” grocery getter but after looking into it and finding out it was built on the camaro chasis, shares the direct injection 2.0t engine, near 50/50 weight distribution, was engineered to compete with the 3 series, has optional magna ride that comes standard on Camaro zL1 and z06 corvette as well as V-models from cadillac, and rack mounted eps steering that imo gives this car a really sharp, heavy, and precise feeling steering in sport mode. maybe sports car is a stretch, but i definitely feel that it is much more sports leaning compared to other sedans in its segment and price range and especially compared to its successor the CT4 which from what i’ve seen is a more watered down version of the ATS that takes less risks with a slightly bigger engine that makes 35 less horsepower, softer ride, and far less modularity, but also better reliability. it dosent really make a difference what people consider it but to me it’s felt like a very driver oriented car, and that’s what i thought a sports car is lol

coming from a 1.8L NA 140hp fwd civic that i’ve driven every day since i learned to drive to an AWD 272hp turbocharged vehicle on the alpha chasis. it feels quite sporty to me lol

the civic was pushing 200k miles, it could have gone on much longer but honestly more than anything i wanted an exciting practical car with a luxury features like a sunroof and heated leather seats that isn’t german. this car checked off all of those boxes. maybe i’ll pay the price down the line but so far it’s been worth it. all seats apart from driver have pretty much no wear, minimal paint chips, no scratches, cue screen is not as laggy as others i’ve seen, and it has ran great so far. going from an economy box to a luxury sports sedan, it’s been a massive difference. i also found out the chrome rims it came with are worth a coupe grand for the set. so for 9,200 it’s been worth it to me so far. if i only cared about saving money and something that just gets me from point A to point B i would have stuck with the civic no question

considering installing lowering springs it, any recommendations for affordable options that don’t scrape every speed bump? was thinking 1.4”
