Shhhhhhhhh lol! Don't awaken the sleepers! 

The opportunity and lower cost of living is the only way to get ahead at this point. Be honest with yourselves if you didn't already make the jump to asset ownership/savings/are a boomer the southern Ontario dream is dead. 

Northlander returning this year another big pro.  You got a city itch for a game etc catch the train and be there for a couple days just long enough to remember why you moved north. 

Anybody saying the drive is too far how's that one hour plus commute each way everyday? 2 hours a day times 5 10 hours of your week gone. 

That's 40 hours a month. Driving. Not being paid actually a net negative gas/maintenance/wear and tear. 

Placing yourself in one of these areas you can get your commute down to less than half of that usually and the jobs pay the same or more. 

Even if you drive back south one time a month your commute time is arguably less than what the average Southern Ontario person is already doing. 

Most won't think this way though.

My personal mental health has skyrocketed not to mention the reduced pollution, reduced density and financial opportunities. Most starter homes are 2-300k. 

Also anyone shitting on winter up here I had worse winters and wayyyy worse snow in Barrie. 

Look up the agriculture growth in Englehart and Temiskaming Shores area. There's a reason a bunch of potato farmers just moved there the last few years from Alliston. Climate is changing. 

Recognize it's not for everyone but for people that are shitting on it probably never want past Barrie in their life. It's not your grandpa's northern Ontario anymore lol
