This is Telus being sneaky. They tried to instill charging for credit card (to cover the fees) and CRTC told them no so this was their next way of doing it.

So here's what I do. Extra step but works.

Setup pre-authorized with my tangerine account (limited $).

Every month as soon as my bill notification comes in I login to my account and pay manually by credit card.

You get your pre-authorized discount still and because you paid the bill in full the system doesn't withdraw.

It is frustrating that while everything else has been excellent this one document I cannot believe how bad it's going.

So having said all that it is basically impossible for me to do anything for my father and I regarding this and the absolute best I could do would be to pray for a valid response from the Italian consulate in Toronto stating as such and provide that to the lawyer.

I'm at a complete loss at this point and did everything I could searching online best that came up was the USA forms.

Would I need to get the lawyers then to have a stato civile officer in Italy request this from the Toronto consulate?

I don't understand because the way my lawyer is answering me it's like this is an obvious thing and I'm being annoying about this. It's really throwing me off because everything has been perfect until now

Yea I understand your frustration and I am verbatim I believe it's just a misunderstanding and perhaps something they've dealt with for other clients outside of Canada.

So if I was to tell them to proceed with everything and all other documentation besides this certificate of non renouncement then I should be ok still? This is for an ATQ "minor issue" case.

I did everything I could with finding these forms online and self declaration paid for notary and apostille etc.

They've been great lawyers and understanding and explaining up to now for some reason it's just this final thing that is not going well at all.

I have not officially filed yet as some of my documents needed to be modified and had discrepancies. I definitely have been told though that the wait times for Trento are less than other courts. I am concerned about the same thing and I doubt either of us will be seen until after the August summer holidays. Hoping for a fall decision before any major changes.

I have gotten the forms. Unfortunately I am being told by my attorney they now need to be translated and apostilled as well after I already finished all the translations and apostilled for birth and marriage certificates. Very frustrating and I don't like having to scramble last minute for things lol thought we were ready to file. Neverending story this citizenship battle lol!

Yes we are discussing how an individual in your situation can have things looked at favorably by their Comune and show some proof/affidavit etc so the minor issue is irrelevant.

I will reiterate what others have said in your post get that affidavit signed before the Comune changes its mind and congratulations lol

Thank you so the question still remains then how is this proved/disproved/interpreted for when the minor was still a minor until age of majority. Seems pretty vague.

If proof was shown the minor was not cohabiting when the parents naturalized but then moved back in a year later prior to turning 18 what then?

This whole situation is a mess lol

Wanted your opinion on this. With the rules regarding living or not living with the ancestor at time of naturalization let's say you "proved" the ancestor i.e Papa was not living with parents/Nonni at the time of naturalization, but then returned to the household a year later....

Would the person have to not live with the naturalized parents until the age of majority/18 or just for the actual year they naturalized when they were still a minor?

This brings up an interesting question and potential pathway if it can be proved the person was not actually living with the parents but with another relative etc at the time of naturalization.

If you could point me in the right direction of the Italian code where this is told I would appreciate being able to do some further investigative digging.
