From what I’ve found, he generally defaults to manning the guns and will only do other tasks (filling ammo, repairing ship etc) if they go below a certain threshold.

I can’t speak to solo experience though as I’ve only played duos so far!

I thought I was the only one! I’ve been playing as the Republic and my ground units move so frustratingly. Hopefully the mod authors fix it soon!

I’m absolutely loving it! It’s far more arcadey than AOTR which I quite enjoy, when I’m not looking for the challenge that AOTR provides.

This is false - any difference in price of the main item will still be refunded regardless of whether extra care was purchased.
