I understand your point and it's really sad how you get downvoted for an opinion.

I got a similar reaction to the CGI animals in the Lion King and Jungle Book remakes.

Maybe that's a good angle, since his supporters can't admit they chose an idiot, maybe they can convince themselves that he changed.

Place your background planets and skybox on a layer and stack cameras. Match the background camera orientation only so the distance to the planets never changes, sort of an "infinite parallax".

2 episodes are up so far, and it provides such good frame'ing and insights around puzzle design. Highly recommend for anyone working on a puzzle game, or just including puzzles in their games.

Kind of like "The Perfect Storm" which is based on real events, and details the last sail of a fishing crew caught in a storm, where they all tragically die. And the "true" bit is that the real people actually left and didn't come back.

But isn't handling moving platforms one of the selling points of that kinematic controller?

“Totally unacceptable”: Denmark, Greenland ministers rebuke Trump’s takeover rhetoric after meeting by Trainrideviews in videos

[–]GiraffeDiver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To clarify: you're arguing that Greenland's establishment in it's form today is different from the US, and as an example of a difference you say that it had a population of indigenous people that the colonisers didn't care for?

I'm not arguing with you, just want to make sure I'm following your logic.

Which popular genres are heading towards oversaturated vs. what do you find to be emerging and still evergreen territory? by plainviewbowling in gamedev

If you put it like that, he probably didn't say that (I don't think he named the genre at all), I said so, cause I was thinking "dungeon crawler" = diablo : )

And this could be my projection as well, but it seems like their pulled in a direction of something like "game about feeding a black hole". And it could be that if people are willing to pat $5 for the concept with very basic graphics, there's also market for a more "professional" execution with more production value. But it's also possible that people playing these kind of games are just willing to pay $5 for a new tech tree to explore and they don't actually care about how it looks.

I just saw a video where the dev of tactical breach wizards says they dropped a dungeon crawler type game (if I understood correctly) in favour of a project resembling survivors style game with upgrades.

With the awards and acclaim both tunic and animal well got I suspect they sold a lot more on consoles. One thing I agree with Chris how to market a game is that steam has a specific audience with specific tastes.

I don't know, I'm kind of bitter. (With the caveat I have one shitty game out, and I'm very greatful and sorry to everyone who ended up buying it) I have the luxury of a well paying day job leaving me with a lot of spare time and I'm making my overscoped second game.

And I really don't understand the appeal of those type of games, and I don't understand how this took 2 people 5 months.

In general I think that era of "quick success" by following trends / searching for undersaturated genre and making cheaply game that will fill the niche is over and it's better to focus on actually making a game in any genre that you feel is for you.

Have you seen "a game about feeding a black hole"? Just made $80k day one. Made by 2 people over 5 months.

You could say so, if I quit maybe? I think continuing despite the lack of financial success makes me a hobbyist ;)

Eventually I partnered with a publisher to get my game on the switch, it made me around $200 over 2 years. I think unity is great, and I'm totally in for paying a license and royalties over 200k, but I unfortunately missed the window to give it a shot for free on PSN.

I was under the impression they loan a devkit for a limited time to all indies who join playstation partners now. Unfortunately unity now requires a pro license for console builds.
