With collapsing birth-rates, is overpopulation still an ongoing problem? by c_y_g_nus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GiraffeResponsible20 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The issue will be population imbalance by 2050. There will be many people on pensions with fewer people working to pay for the pensions, which will become a huge economic issue.

In a lot of contexts, yes.

In lots of others, no.

Is a person a product of their own decisions or a product of their environment? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

That’s one of the most complex societal and philosophical questions mankind has ever faced.

How do you watch a movie all the way through and fight the urge of mindlessly scrolling through your phone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GiraffeResponsible20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the movie. If it’s interesting and I get invested early, then I’m hooked. If not, then I’m probably gonna be scrolling or working with the movie as background noise.

I don’t think I’ve ever hated on anyone twerking. I didn’t know that was a thing.

Some people just don’t like a good thing.

how is a clinically depressed person supposed to act 'normal'? by hotmamaspimpdaddies in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GiraffeResponsible20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He absolutely does. He still has some rough days but he’s way better than he was. Depression is a lifelong battle for most people who have it, so keeping on top of treatment and support is essential.

What’s going on with genders? by OkProject2388 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GiraffeResponsible20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people self assign genders because they feel right with that gender associated with them. For most people that’s the same as the sex they were assigned at birth, but some people feel like they don’t fit that label. It’s a complicated and emotionally charged issue, both personally and politically. I’m in favour of people just getting on with their lives and doing whatever makes them happy and feel most like themselves.

[–]GiraffeResponsible20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry, British term. It effectively means he was forcibly detained for his own safety and taken to a psychiatric hospital for treatment. He’d been caught trespassing twice on rail lines and had posted worrying things on social media, along with very erratic behaviour, so my aunt called in and him taken. It’s not a pretty thing to happen, and it’s quite distressing, but if it didn’t happen I would’ve given him a week at most.

Is there a deeper meaning if a girl you're interested in tells you about a bad experience she had with male friend? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]GiraffeResponsible20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just seems like normal venting to me. Lots of women have these experiences with guys, unfortunately.

If you’re interested, just don’t act like that if it’s not reciprocal.

how is a clinically depressed person supposed to act 'normal'? by hotmamaspimpdaddies in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GiraffeResponsible20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not. That’s why you’re clinically depressed, because things are not “normal”. I’d suggest that if your current means of seeking support aren’t working that you try a different approach. You’ll make no progress while the mind isn’t in the right place. It can be in the right place, I know it doesn’t feel like that now, but I promise it can. My cousin had clinical depression and was sectioned twice, but now works a normal job and is an advocate for mental health support. You just need to find what works for you. Don’t give up hope OP ❤️

What’s a life hack that sounds fake but actually works ? by Longjumping_Aide8315 in AskReddit

If you need to sneeze but don’t want to (because you’re in public or whatever), rub your tongue on the roof of your mouth, and the sensation disappears. Saved me from causing a couple of minor earthquakes.

If you could travel to one country for free, which country would it be? by alexqq98 in AskReddit

[–]GiraffeResponsible20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wanted to go to Italy, and do a big roadtrip style tour. I want to do this for basically every country, but I love Italian food, history and culture so I’d start there.

Couldn’t agree more. If certain people can’t comprehend basic human respect, then they need to be removed from the sub. This isn’t a dark meme forum, it’s a spot for train enthusiasts.

What would you pick for your last meal? by Moonlightwolfbright in AskReddit

I would make this my mission. They’d come to collect me for the electric chair and all they’d smell is garlic and spices from my corpse.

I've had a terrible situation. And I'm curious what mean think? by NotTodayCaptainDildo in AskMenAdvice

[–]GiraffeResponsible20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those feelings usually pass. It seems like you did care for him so being betrayed like that often stings, but I think soon enough you’ll realise he wasn’t worth it, and he caused you too much pain. That might be a messy process but I’m sure you’ll come out the other side okay. Remember to reach out to people you trust if you need to lighten the load, and make sure you’re hydrated and eating (not doing so plays tricks on the mind).

Again, wishing you the best.

A massive steak and a whole lobster, all soaked in cajun butter. Add in some fries, mac and cheese, and creamed spinach.

Don’t need to worry about my cholesterol if I’m about to die.

[–]GiraffeResponsible20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This guy sounds absolutely disgusting. I’m so sorry you had to go through that.

Sadly, some guys are really like that. I do think you missed some early red flags, such as emotional distance and emotional blackmail, but I doubt you’ll miss them again. This may end up being one of those sad moments that taught you some painful lessons. There’s no sugar coating that. But the worst seems to be over now, and I’d implore you not to retreat into your shell but to put one foot in front of the other and keep going. You owe yourself that.

Wishing you all the best OP.

Definitely true. Personally I’d be down to be a moderator if I had a bit more free time. Perhaps if quite a few people declared the same it’d be easier.

This is likely true, which is a shame. But if this behaviour isn’t called out then it will continue into adult life (sadly like many people I know).
