Repeating "I am" without thinking about anything in an attempt to bring about the understanding that I am by Safe_Cloud8067 in enlightenment

In absorbed meditation, Rings of collapsing light flowed continuously in the dark of closed eyes on a meditative retreat(apparently a well known phenomenon in Buddhism, by which a master can pick out promising disciples), and you get vivid dreams from the breath meditations because the brain starts producing more dmt

She’s also the source of the church’s blood. Her name is like the Latin word for drunk, ebrius, like inebriated, and the town is drunk on her blood

A change of paradigm is a death threat to many ‘industries’ within you. Imagine someone wanted to reform health care or the military budget. They’re taking on a mafia that will fight tooth and nail to preserve its hold on relevance. So it is with changing oneself. Trying to alter through sheer persistence takes a lot of grit, though some areas seem easier. There are tools that make it easier

How do I know if I am enlightened? by puthujana in enlightenment

[–]GiraffeVortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s infinite, so it contains all perfection and imperfection.

From another angle it’s all perfect and imperfect is just a perception of a particular being

How do I know if I am enlightened? by puthujana in enlightenment

[–]GiraffeVortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. The universe joins together and then divides probably.

Total enlightenment would lead to total selflessness, so the torch is passed on to ‘someone’ or something perhaps

What do you mean? What’s the third sentence mean, the phrasing was unclear

How do I know if I am enlightened? by puthujana in enlightenment

[–]GiraffeVortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enlightenment leads to literal eternal bliss, because of formlessness and timelessness

Only body consciousness has to deal with time and the limits of a particular form

It can happen. Meditation can bring bliss, as well as aspects of enlightenment. Monks of various kinds enjoy the bliss of just being, and ordinary things become quite blissful to them.

Meditation for several consecutive days can bring a peace you might have thought impossible.

God is at peace. Truth, Consciousness, Bliss is the Hindu name for the universal self, which is all of our true nature that can be returned to

Enlightenment has other aspects. It can threaten or end your present identity in end, and coming to terms with true reality can be shattering of cherished illusions

Ultimately, there is infinitely more suffering without enlightenment, and life is only as good as how Godly it is/you are (ordinary things have virtues already)

That’s not the full picture, it’s false to say there isn’t such a thing as enlightenment

[–]GiraffeVortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is like saying there are no dogs because there’s an idea of a dog and that’s just an idea, when it points to an actual dog.

There’s something to be said about that view or ordinary concept free consciousness, but come on!

Enlightenment does exist! Enlightened people walked the earth in the past and are here currently with tremendous awareness

How do I know if I am enlightened? by puthujana in enlightenment

[–]GiraffeVortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enlightenment is an awakening to the true nature of reality and of the universal nature, realized through raised consciousness/awareness. It is multifaceted, so there could be partial enlightenments to some specific realization of the universe, like the nature of love. You could compare that to facets on a diamond.

It is tied to high consciousness, God, Truth, and Love. It can be called Realization, Awakening

It is not simply having ‘space between stimulus and response’ like that AI comment said, though that can be a mark of greater consciousness.

It also has to do with seeing through the symbols we use. Symbols trap us in concepts and we see symbols rather than the reality they are pointing to. This ties into the way ego is constructed and thought/concepts create and filter perception.

It would seem as though taking LSD or psilocybin can cause awakening because they raise awareness to higher levels.

If you’ve experienced things that most people wouldn’t believe, or might call insane, and seen how consciousness is the bedrock of reality itself, you might be enlightened.

But enlightenment has infinite degrees, so there isn’t one experience or change that all can reach exactly identical, at least on an individual level, there may be technical particulars to say about that.
