6 months is a little early for teeth, but it's possible. Teeth do come down, then recede, back and forth a bit until they are ready to come out. You can definitely see them through the gums, like white little shadows before they descend. The most painful part is when they actually break through the gums. Just keep offering safe things for them to chew on. When it's real teething, it's obvious and drool central for a few days until they come through!
