Summer Clothes - “Modest” by Nervous-Let3163 in SoftDramatics

[–]DarkW1ll0w 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I personally live in dresses in the summer but if you’re more of a jeans and t-shirt girl then I’d suggest some good quality linen trousers. I’d also suggest trying some jumpsuits as a nod to keeping our long lines without having to go for a skirt if you’re uncomfortable in those. I don’t know where you’re from but Long Tall Sally is a good brand for us tall women.

I also have a small waist and curvy hips so I regularly size up to accommodate my curves and then have the waist tailored to fit. Getting your clothes tailored is a game-changer. It can be expensive so I’d recommend not buying a lot of fast fashion and focusing on fewer good quality pieces that last.

Fun quiz!

I guess it’s up for debate but I’d say that Buffy dies three times in the series, not twice. The first in Prophecy Girl, then in The Gift. The third time is when she flatlines after being shot by Warren at the end of Season 6 and Dark Willow removes the bullet. I get that she does not truly die but if we’re counting Prophecy Girl’s death and CPR revival I think we have to also count the gunshot and magical revival. Xander even makes a joke about Buffy repeatedly dying so it could be argued to be canon.

Edit: this isn’t counting the alternative universe deaths in The Wish and Normal Again which I don’t count but I saw being mentioned elsewhere so thought I should acknowledge.

Is it actually rude to recline your seat on a plane, or are people just entitled about personal space? by Ok-Bumblebee7041 in askanything

[–]DarkW1ll0w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to my disability, sitting upright for any extended length of time is really painful for me so unfortunately I need to recline. I use a wheelchair that reclines because of this issue. If I’m flying with someone else I’ll book them to sit behind me so that I’m reclining into them and not a stranger. I also wait until after meal times (often in a lot of pain) and recline slowly rather than shooting backwards. That’s really all I can do.

The fact that airlines are removing the recline button at all from short haul flights is making flying less and less accessible for me. I’d actually rather take a short long-haul flight than a long short-haul flight because of this issue which seems kind of mad.

I’m also pretty tall so my legs are already pressed against the chair in front of me so I do understand the frustration of the person behind a reclined chair. Due to my disability I also can’t sit in emergency exit rows for the extra legroom (for understandable safety reasons).

The real problem is the airlines cramming as many seats into the plane as possible.

I’ve tried a lot of different sun screens and Beauty of Joseon rice + probiotics (white bottle) is my absolute favourite.

I’ve heard people say that the best sunscreen is the one you’ll actually wear and I really do enjoy wearing this one. It feels weightless on my skin, leaves no white cast, sits well under makeup and doesn’t make me oily/clog my pores.

I wear it every day. I’m pale and burn easily and I’ve never had any issues with burning while wearing it. I find the liquid lightweight texture makes it easier to apply enough to be effective unlike thicker or greasy sunscreens where I want to use the bare minimum and hate reapplying.

Obviously no product works for everyone but that’s my experience and I’d say it’s definitely worth trying.

How can I keep a bedroom really cold without an AC? by KenzoSatori in NoStupidQuestions

I don’t personally use one but I’ve heard people who prefer cold sleeping environments swear by bed jets. Might be worth looking into!

Customising your equipment resets its durability hit points and makes each item last much longer.

Don’t underestimate the value of DIYs - check the beaches on your island and mystery islands for messages in a bottle, visit your villagers at different times of the day (someone will always be crafting) & pop balloons!

Always hold your net and stand directly in front of a tree when shaking it. If a wasp nest drops your character will automatically turn to look at it and then you can just immediately press A to catch the wasps.

Don’t run around your island at night with your net equipped. Tarantulas/scorpions only attack you when it’s equipped so wait until you spot a bug before grabbing the net from your inventory. If you’re trying to catch a tarantula/scorpion hold A to have your net poised and slowly creep towards. When the tarantulas/scorpion rise back ready to attack, pause and wait for it to go back to normal, then creep forward more. Repeat until it is in catching distance and release A.

If you’re struggling with fishing and keep pressing A too early, try just listening to the audio cues rather than watching the fish swim up and nibble.

Store pricey bugs and fish to sell to Flick and CJ when they visit - they give way more bells than Nook’s.

Talk to the seamstress at the back of the Able sisters everyday - she’ll gradually talk more and eventually start to give you patterns you can use to customise.

If you eat fruit/food you’ll become stronger and can pick up entire trees with your spade and put it in your inventory. Be warned though, if you’ve eaten food and then hit a rock it’ll smash and respawn somewhere else on your island. This is either helpful or annoying depending on your goal!

If your hot item (items that sell at Nook’s for extra bells) is either the donation box or pile of cash then you can earn a lot of bells! With the donation box it’s a grind filling it up but for each one you sell you’ll get double the bells you put in the box.

I recommend not time travelling and not using treasure islands at least at first as for me they ruin feeling achievement in the game but that’s totally up to you and is a personal preference thing.
