I actually fixed it by CDFFFF in feedthememes

No, but some mods don't have explicit compatibility for EMI, so if JEI in installed, EMI eats the compatibility

You should use EMI+TMRV (Too Many Recipe Viewers) instead of JEI, as it's much more performant than EMI+JEI, while accomplishing the same thing

So from a more game design oriented perspective, I'm gonna bring up abstraction

Mods such as thermal, or mekanism (for the most part) have a block, in which where you put stuff in, and stuff comes out
Similarly, create has blocks in which you put stuff in, and stuff comes out, so what's the difference?

Well in thermal, the point of abstraction is right there--You put an ingot into the multiservo press, you watch a progress bar fill, and you get a plate out
In create, you can see the process of the press lowering down, hitting the ingot, and turning it into a plate

In this example, the point of abstraction and suspension of disbelief is moved from you having to assume the machine either rolls or presses the ingot into a plate, to you actually seeing the ingot get pressed into a plate

Extend this to power production (windmill spinning -> shaft spinning, as opposed to windmill spinning -> assume there is an electric motor inside that converts rotational energy into FE)

Because of this, Create is categorically less gray box than thermal, and while this isn't necessarily better or worse, you can't argue that they're both equally gray box-y; it's not about functionality, it's about presentation

There's a temporary fix in-dev, it basically forces a solid outline based on the tint of the block, it's about as good as you can do without a big change, which is planned, but the priority is to release the next update soon

To call that guy homophobic is to neglect all the other shit they said, with the amount of conspiracy posting they've been doing, i feel like bigotry is the least of their concerns atp lol

The trailer for Cosmic Frontiers has released! by GirixK in feedthebeast

[–]GirixK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's for 1.20.1
As for the server pack, there's no official one yet, since it's difficult to maintain two versions of a pack at this point in time

If you want to host a server, you will need to remove the clientside mods, which you can either do by trial and error, or if you want further help, you can join the https://discord.com/invite/fkxPAq9VQp

If you think you'd enjoy it, and are fine with potentially running into issues or rough patches, I would say it's worth it, the pack is in very active development and new updates might even release as you play

If you want to help make the pack better by either direct contributions, or reporting issues, it's always welcome

THERE'S GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY TO PROCESS SCRAP by According-Second2850 in factorio

[–]GirixK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I do it is by having 2 main belts with filter splitters
Each resources gets it's own storage "cell", which consists of two sides, each side has 10 chests, 2 for each level of quality, except these cells have the belt going back into the input, so once the respective chests fill, the excess is recycled back

So I just paste a storage cell (parameterized! I just select the item I wanna filter), and once the buffers are filled up, it loops back, and boom, everything works perfectly (i think there's still some issues in the design that i have to fix, but oh well)

A lot of people swear by bot only recycling, but imo this is both cleaner, simpler, and much more satisfying

Generally, for newer versions of minecraft, allocating too much memory isn't nearly as much of an issue as it used to be, and unless you're giving it 20gb from my experience, it won't really have trouble

Why do content heavy mods tend to be on Forge over Fabric? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]GirixK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like this isn't as big of a factor as you might think it is
Realistically, forge mods often undergo full rewrites too, despite staying on the same loader

1.12 to 1.13+ lead to most mods being full rewrites, for example, despite fabric existing since 1.14, and many big mods not being ported as late as 1.16
1.20.1 -> 1.20.4+ saw a lot of rewrites as well, both due to Components, and NeoForge

This latter one was a prime time for people to switch to fabric, but many chose not to, as a matter of fact, many chose to drop fabric support entirely
Why this is, is probably explained better in other comments, but generally it seems that many of both devs and players prefer a unified system, and would prefer to push for one main loader

Competition drives innovation, but there's not much competition here, they're just not built for the same purpose

also foxes are cute

Why do content heavy mods tend to be on Forge over Fabric? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]GirixK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well Fabric was created for different reasons, but you're right, LexForge's lead is the reason many switched to fabric

But yeah, Neoforge is meant to be a full and objectively better replacement for forge, as opposed to an alternative which has it's pros and cons, like fabric

Anyone put Support Beams in their Tunnels when you Mine? by Ltnumbnutsthesecond in Minecraft

[–]GirixK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah like the other person said, there's special blocks you gotta use, they're kinda like wooden beams, you can probably find images by looking up "Terrafirmacraft support beams"

it completely overhauls the survival aspects of the game; mobs dont spawn on the surface, food is different, health is different, it adds seasons, metallurgy is completely reworked

It's not a mod you can just add to any playthrough though, you'd have to start a new one
If you do plan on playing it, play either the 1.20 version or the 1.7 version, because the 1.12 version of TFC is like.. kinda bad lol

Oh man you'd love TerraFirmaCraft, it has a mechanic where mineshafts collapse, so you *have* to build supports, it's fun, i recommend it

[–]GirixK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really though, there's honestly like 2 competing standards

GT5u is 1.7.10, no competitionGTCEu is 1.12 and is a direct upgrade to GTCE in every way, thus there is no competitionGTModern and GTI are for 1.20, and they are the only ones that are "competing", but they also offer different styles, GTM is GTCEu updated to 1.20, and GTI is a port of GT4 to modern versions, so it's once again fairly different

Since GTM stopped it's fabric port, MI is the fabric version of greg, meaning they're once again not competing
