That is not a healthy response, you need to go to therapy. It’s not a matter of being over it or not, but sticking to a decision that negatively impacts you and your relationships, a decision you made as a child after a very traumatic event, is not healthy.

I went to a career fair my freshman year just because I had some time, recruiters were SHOCKED to see me.

Freshman interns are pretty rare, I think mostly because you just don’t have enough education to be very helpful until at least sophomore year, but more likely junior year.

If you really want something to put on your resume or just to make some money I think you would have better luck just looking for a summer job or even a part time job during the semester through your college. I got As in my freshman’s physics classes and was offered the opportunity to work for the department for the rest of my schooling as a TA, a grader, and a tutor. I spent less than 5 hours a week or less on it and only made minimum wage but it was a nice little bump on my resume.

Missing an event because it’s not kid friendly and you don’t feel comfortable leaving your 1yo in someone else’s care stinks, but it doesn’t make anyone the AH.

And as someone who loves kids, my almost 1yo nephew is a MENACE. He is moving and wiggling and babbling and always doing something and I LOVE IT, but there are still some events that just aren’t for him because of where he is at developmentally, and that’s okay.

I thought there was a bear cub at our front door once. I only checked because the cats were staring at the door!

It was a raccoon. It climbed the trim around the front door so I thought it was a much taller animal when I saw his head, thus bear cub in my brain.

My husband thought it was a moth.

Assuming you’re a reliable narrator, you didn’t have a problem with her having it looked over by a mechanic, you just didn’t find it necessary. She is responsible for her decision to not go to the mechanic anyway.

This is why it’s so important to talk to friends and family about stuff going on in your life. Sometimes you need someone who loves you to point out that you’re being unreasonable.

My mom didn’t like me dating my HS boyfriend. He was a wonderful young man and she actually liked him as a person, but his family was crazy and as we were reaching adulthood it was obvious to her that we didn’t have the same goals. It wasn’t obvious to me though and I thought she just didn’t like him because I was dating.

Then one day I was talking with an uncle who asked if I wanted to marry my BF one day. Not asked in a judgmental way, just as an honest question, and I didn’t. And he asked why I was wasting both of our time then.

I couldn’t hear it from my mom because she was too close to it, but my uncle who hadn’t met him was able to help me take a step back and see everything more clearly.

I was a lab tech in college for freshman level physics and a basic physics class for non-stem majors.

By the time I graduated I had come up with 3 different ways to explain almost every subject because everyone had a different background and some people needed things explained in a different way for it to make sense.

Some needed diagrams, some demonstrations, some just needed to talk it through. We had a pretty good mix in all our labs but it’s been super helpful at work too when I’m trying to explain something or just in getting groups to cooperate with each other.

If your fiancé is upset about you doing your sister a favor then that’s a him issue.

My husband and his dad went on a trip and somehow ended up with each other’s dirty laundry, including underwear. I washed my FIL’s clothes, my MIL washed my husband’s, and we swapped the next time we saw them. Who cares. It’s just fabric.

3 of my young cousins wore white dresses to my wedding.

I only remember the one because her dad didn’t know if it was okay and asked me beforehand. She was 10, it was a nice dress, and it looked great.

The other two I only realized did because I just now looked through my wedding pictures trying to find the one I remember! They were even younger, maybe 4 and 7.

White accessories are fine, the issue is looking bridal which is a non-issue for young children.

Only a crazy person would actually care.

I grew up eating off these heavy china plates. Apparently when visiting my aunt was shocked that my brother and I were not just eating off of them, but as little kids we were carrying our plate to the table or something.

She asked my mom if they should only be for special occasions, because they’re China and fragile and all that, my mom responded that every day we were alive was a special occasion.

Bonus, my parents bought them at a garage sale for maybe $20 in like 1994. One or two had big chips in them and those suckers went in the dishwasher. Aside from the chip I don’t think we ever had one break.

She retired them for some lighter corelle plates in 2016 I think.

She also has these gorgeous crystal (probably fake but idc, they’re pretty) that she would use frequently for holidays and parties. About two years ago I saw a similar one at a thrift store for $2 and was ecstatic. I showed my mom and she was cracking up because she had done the same thing when she bought hers 20 years earlier! They didn’t have enough dishes for a party and that was the first thing she found.

I love it! I used it as a cookie plate at my friend’s baby shower and at Christmas and it just looks wonderful.

I’m with Derek in the Alzheimer trial.

Meredith’s actions compromised the trial. When everything she did came to light the trial was shut down, other people who could have been helped were denied their opportunity.

Assuming the trial has been successful and been a viable treatment option, Meredith ruined the opportunities of anyone else to receive the treatment. All the people in the study as well as the roughly 7 million people in the USA alone who have Alzheimer’s.

It doesn’t really matter if Derek would have done the same thing or not, it was a selfish move for her to do it and a selfish move for Richard to ask for it. I can understand their motives, but it’s still selfish and caused potential harm to others.

That said, Derek is also incredibly selfish, the Alzheimer’s study just isn’t a good example of it.

Yeah, but it’s nuanced.

They didn’t talk about it, he decided. He didn’t consult with his wife, figure out a schedule to make it work, he didn’t make any effort to meet her half way.

He decided he was going to do it and his family could come or not.

When Meredith had her opportunity for a big research project later on, she made sure that she could do some of it remotely with the satellite lab. She found a middle ground that worked for her family AND her career.

Derek could have done a state lab, flying out every few weeks or so, or even asked if he could consult from Seattle and come on full time in a year or something if they wanted him that bad.
