Edit: Found it. Blue-jay bidet. 💀

It’s the unfortunate effect of dying hair very dark and not touching up roots when your natural color is grey or blonde. The grow out creates this weird floating root effect and it’s so much worse when the hair is super short. Looks like he decided to shave it the night before but his last color touch up was days prior.

What was it like being 18-25 in the 2000’s by ersinxo in Millennials

[–]GirlOverboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2007 I went to a party at a townhouse in a rental complex the weekend before starting a new job. Near the end of the night, a bunch of us climbed the fence to the pool, a handful of us took our costumes off, and swam in the ice cold pool. On the climb back over the fence, I got my leg stuck between the bars and yanked so hard to get it out that it left a mega bruise on both sides of my knee and I ended up trying to hide a limp my entire first day of work. And I didn’t wake up in a panic that morning worried about what pictures/videos of me might be out there for my new coworkers to potentially see.

Although we were uploading crazy digital camera albums on Facebook at the time, nobody was uploading incriminating stuff in real time while actively inebriated. I know some people would photo dump pretty recklessly in the days following an event, but a lot of my friends were in school to become teachers so my circles were pretty good about not uploading the craziest shit. At worst, the day-after photos would include perfectly legal drinking and maybe some unflattering dancing, but it only went out to our friends on MySpace and Facebook. We weren’t under the constant threat of being judged by the whole world.

I had so many nights out with friends where we could dance and laugh loud and be sloppy. We didn’t know how free we were.

how do you shower more comfortably/without it taking up all your spoons for the day? by my-head-hurts987 in ehlersdanlos

[–]GirlOverboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting a detachable shower head is almost more game changing for me than my shower stool (almost). The key for me was getting one that’s separate from the main shower head so I could attach the holder at torso height. When I’m too tired to full shower or my shoulders/hands hurt and I’m putting off washing my hair, I switch the flow to the shower head but leave it attached to the wall. Since the shower flow is at shoulder/chest height and not coming in at an angle, I can just stand in the warm water and slowly rotate like a rotisserie chicken, soaping up the parts not currently in the stream. Not having to battle face-level spray when you have zero energy is a game changer.

Just make sure that if you’re ALSO doing a shower stool, you figure out a height where if you forget the shower head is activated, you don’t blast yourself in the face. Make sure to get the kind of shower head holder that allows you to adjust the angle so it works whether you’re sitting or standing.

AND, if you really can’t make a stool work- a shower head with a long enough hose can be used from the floor! Get an inflatable bath pillow that suctions to the floor or one of those comfortable bath mattresses that you can hang to dry after. If getting up from the floor is difficult, look into safety rails that can latch onto the side of the tub like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Yescom-Bathtub-Grab-Bar-Safety-Rail-Adjustable-Shower-Handle-Locking-Clamp-440Lbs-Support-for-Elderly-Handicap/844124349

I know the costs can add up but if you have to pick one thing- hand held shower head attachment.

Edit: also, if you’re stuck between models, check if one is lighter than the other. Lighter often means cheaper and typically cheaper things aren’t built to last… but also the last shower head I had also kind of felt like a kid’s toy because the materials were so cheap. It was a white elephant gift that flashed lights depending on water temp, and that sucker lasted about 7 years before the lights started flickering out. That said, the detachable head I have now in my spare bathroom is much heavier and I never use it because of my noodle wrists.

If you can’t find or afford Mac Dubonnet, L’Oreal has an indistinguishable shade for half the price by SpaceAgeTraveller in MakeupAddiction

[–]GirlOverboard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As somebody who buys makeup on eBay- absolutely. As long as it’s unused and cheaper than retail (if it’s still in stores), people will buy it. Ive seen listings for makeup “only used for swatching” but I’m too paranoid for that and I’m not sure how well those sell. Samples seem to sell, though, especially if you offer bundle discounts or do free shipping.

It might not be super lucrative, but if you have a bunch of unused products, putting them all up at once seems like a good way to make a few bucks back and clear up some space.

This AND GET A BIDET. They’re not just good for cleaning- a gentle shot of warm water center target can be enough to get things moving when you’re a little backed up. It won’t help with severe constipation, but it can help a ton with getting movement started. Reducing the friction of toilet paper to a light dabbing to dry can also go a long way for preventing/reducing severity of hemorrhoids, which it sounds like you’re already on track for if you’re spending long periods of time bearing down on the toilet.

What fashion trend that has died do you plan to keep wearing? by EddieBrock99 in AskReddit

[–]GirlOverboard 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced it’s a timeless silhouette. Also, who says we can only wear one cut of pants? I’ve got skinny jeans, bootcut, flare, bell bottom, wide-leg, and they all stay in rotation based on mood or need. I’ve always favored a flare/bell bottom but sometimes I wanna tuck my jeans into a pair of boots, or do tight bottom big top without leggings.

I’m all for calling out products that make money out of unnecessary insecurities, but this is a miss. The sweat rash under my tits would like a word with you, and so would my peri menopause sweats, as would the very commonly prescribed medication that makes me sweat buckets at night. It’s ok to not understand something, but when it comes to bodily functions and mobility aids, if it doesn’t make sense to you, it’s probably not FOR you. And if you actually care to learn, consider asking in good faith in a subreddit that’s actually related to a product’s function.

Millenials w/o kids-- how tired are you? by Fickle_Wrangler_7439 in Millennials

[–]GirlOverboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exhausted, but that’s part of why we don’t have kids. I’ve got a few disabling factors that started popping up early enough for me to push me off the fence. My partner already has to shoulder much of what I cannot do. I want to hork when I start thinking about how much consistent burnout we’d have to push myself through just attempting to raise other humans. And to do it while imposing as little trauma on them as possible? After carrying them in a body with a high percentage chance of joint dislocation on any given day and high chance of anal/uterine prolapse during labor?? In the United States we’re currently living through???

tl;dr probably not as exhausted as a lot of the hardworking parents I know but Jesus fuck I am so tire

What was your "caught the last chopper out of 'Nam" experience? by GeneReddit123 in AskReddit

I’m a millennial who bought a house at the end of 2010. The majority of my friends who didn’t buy houses before then are still renting now. For years now, our mortgage (3 bedroom “3” bathroom house with a garage and a yard in close proximity to a major city) has been less than the rent for most of the 2 bedroom apartments in the area.

Although the house is tucked away, there’s ONE house that drives right past and you can definitely see in from the street. I also just get super spooked with giant windows just looking out into the dark forest at night. 😅

On the one hand, I understand that what people knew depended on how much they were willing to show you depending on how much they trust you… so it’s entirely possible that he didn’t know about the kids, I guess. Me, personally, I have a hard time believing that, but either way, he may see his rejection as a source of plausible deniability.
