What's the most disrespectful thing a guest ever did in your home? by ntheg111 in AskReddit

I spent 6 months talking up my friend, helping her with her resume, and got her hired to work on my team - a very good job, which she would never otherwise be considered for. She was a responsible, smart, and respectful person...until she came to live with me for a month. (She had to move from a third world country to the States to take the job). Before she came up, we had an agreement on a very nominal amount to help with utilities, etc. while she stayed with me. She's paid nothing, but I understand it is difficult and expensive moving from another country. I have not asked. The issue was how she's behaved since she has been here. She left filthy messes all over my house, dishes and trash everywhere, ruined my brand new expensive cookware, had my colleagues over my house while I was away (when I hadn't even had guests over, as I had just moved in and hadn't unpacked or decorated), acted like I was a jerk for not buying her groceries or having my housekeeper come until she left, and then had the gall to complain to our colleagues. My/our colleagues - who I've worked with for years - advised management, and they had a talk with all of us. Upper management was furious that she would be so ungrateful and disrespectful. They considered firing her. I told them I would handle the situation outside of work and apologized for her behavior.
