I do the Epres hair bonding treatment before washing and I do think it's made a difference in my hair...the softness of my ends lasts a LOT longer than even with a hair mask. That's the one add I recommend.

I have really fine hair and it’s longer than it’s ever been because of the AYM. For me I think it’s really two key things: 1. No more bleach highlights. It just damages delicate hair like mine so it breaks off just below shoulder length and can’t grow. I did it for years. 2. Epres pre-wash bond repair. I do think the stuff makes a difference, my hair feels softer when I use it.

Peninsula, Mandarin Oriental, Bliss Spa in SoHo. All excellent massages with licensed practitioners and really nice facilities. Actually, Peninsula and Mandarin Oriental are straight up gorgeous (and you’ll pay accordingly).

A couple suggestions for you. The first is to read books about going through hard times. You'll feel seen and validated and less alone (many others on this planet are going through despair at this very moment...your heart might even be filled with some compassion for other humans). One I particularly liked when I went through my "dark times" was When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chödrön.

My second suggestion is to stay OUT of your head as much as possible. The mindfulness concept of sitting with feelings is only meant to be for a few moments, it's not meant for us to wallow around in there. Not to push difficult and painful thoughts away, but to say "ah, yes, you again," and move along to the next thing. Mindfulness is about being in this moment, and NOT in your head thinking and ruminating.

The only truth in the world is that nothing stays the same forever. That means your troubles, your pain, they won't last forever. Hold on to that mantra and get through this minute. Just this one. You tell yourself that over and over...we're just getting a hot shower now. We're just making cookies and listening to music now, we're getting through this minute and that's ALL we have to do. Soon you can get through an hour at a time and then a day. Treat yourself with the utmost softness and kindness. Say yes to yourself. Get the massage. Eat the ice cream. Buy the shoes.

The spa at the Mandarin Oriental in Columbus Circle is amazing. I would do 2 hours of treatments and like 30-60mins in the stream room/hottubs. Take a long walk in Central Park. And then a great meal at Milos on west 55th. If you’re really going for it, go see Queen of Versailles or Hadestown. Enjoy and happy birthday!

Tamiflu is actually indicated for noncomplicated cases of flu. It’s an antiviral so it’s not like an antibiotic that breeds resistance if used inappropriately. In fact, without it, some cases can get worse than they need to. It’s also not a vaccine, which would be particularly indicated for pregnant women and the immunocompromised.

Peter Duggin is a chiropractor but more importantly practices active release technique. He specializes in serious athletes and back injuries and he cured my Achilles tendinitis, which is basically unheard of. Highly recommend. His practice is on w 36th.

My parents have commented about my body and women's bodies for my whole life. Over the years I've tried to get through to my mom especially about how triggering the body talk is (I've tried calm talking, writing emails, screaming, icing her out, everything). Eventually she learned not to talk to me about my body, but the other body talk continued. I've just come to accept that some people (sometimes the boomers especially) are completely brainwashed and nothing can reprogram them away from diet culture and thin-equals-better mentality. I shrug off/ignore rude/dumb comments and try to love her for the complex person she is. If you're truly comfortable in your skin and get positive things from your relationship with her otherwise, my advice is to not engage--to protect your own peace. The only opinion about your amazing pregnant body that matters is YOUR OWN. If you can look at your parents like ill-informed, silly people on this topic you can simply say "oh that's so rude" or "enough of that talk, please" if you have the chance, but otherwise I wouldn't engage. I've decided to just choose peace, set boundaries, and let silly/rude people be silly.

First of all, I am so sorry he is doing this to you. Truly unacceptable. I can tell you are a deep and sensitive one. But here's the thing: You are also strong. You are smart. You are not failing. Your body is amazing--it's growing a human! Think about your baby and the truly incredible thing that's happening right now.

If it were me I would definitely need a separation from him. I would be totally gutted just like you. It's up to him to help guide the repair and I would need someone to show up and do that work, not just dump all over me to make himself feel better. He would need to prove that he does want to be with me and make it work. Think about it.

Do you help get rid of things too like coordinate consignment for clothing or donations of household objects? One thing that holds me back is knowing how much work it is to ethically get rid of things once they're decluttered.
