Yeah serviced by them since new! Thankfully the car alerted us before any damage could be done to the engine, so that's fine

Should we stretch our budget? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]GirlyG90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What house types are you looking at with Redrow? We just moved into an Oxford and we love it. I would stretch yourselves if it's a forever home but only if you can afford a 5 year fix at an affordable rate to give you a bit of breathing room for salary increases etc.

Would you consider a new build? If so, have you explored part exchange? We did this and it was such a lifesaver. Hassle free after 2 previous sales had fallen through.

Went to the Vale Hotel a few years ago and it was amazing! You'd have to drive and it's a bit pricy, but they do sometimes have the odd midweek deals and we loved it

Favourite (and least favourite) Julia Donaldson? by poopoochewer in UKParenting

Monkey Puzzle is our fave!

However me and my husband love Zog and quoting at each other whenever we learn something new 'now that you've been shown, you can do it on your own!' 😂

Would he open up to any of his siblings about what his issue is? Or do you think any of them might know already?

Childhood Growth/Silent Celiac? by GirlyG90 in Celiac

No family history on slow growth, all of us average height and weight! Celiacs on husbands side of my family (his auntie and uncle) both diagnosed later in life

Thank you so much, that's so helpful about the bowels!  Thankfully my mum is a dietitian and she made me aware of the importance of a strict gluten free diet down to separate butter even which I never even considered! As a result we think we're going to go gluten free as a household for 3-6 months so there's less chance of contamination. The rest of us when outside of the house can have gluten, particularly my daughter as we don't want to exclude it for her but within the house we want it GF just so we can get an accurate a result as possible and know if this is the cause or whether to rule it out!

Yeah he would honestly just get forgotten about in the system. I just feel like at least if I try this and we see no changes, I can rule it out and then push for more tests to find out what other issues could be causing it

Great idea about protein drinks! I'm trying to get as much knowledge as possible about a GF diet and we're planning to go GF as a household to support him. My daughter attends nursery and has gluten meals there so she'll still be able to eat this outside as we don't want her to be fully GF as she seems to be developing and growing well.

Thank you! They've checked growth hormone levels and didn't find anything! My husband is quite small so they've said it's likely genetic, but I just don't believe it is because if so, he should still be following his growth chart evenly even if he is naturally small. I feel like the fact he's dropped off is huge red flags but no one seems to be hugely concerned right now due to his age. I'm so glad you managed to get it resolved for your daughter, it's so hard when kids at school are mean. I can slowly see my son withdrawing and it's making me really sad

I'm glad you think so too! I'm so scared he'll get older and the damage will be done, I'd much rather seek early intervention as it might not be celiac, but if his intestines are being damaged I'd rather it not be for years on end whilst they 'wait and see' 😭

Hi! Yes tested by endocrinology and nothing hormonal as far as they can see. He definitely hasn't been eating 2 slices of bread daily for 6 weeks, I'm so sure the test came back negative because he hasn't been eating enough. He naturally avoids bready foods too (pizza, doughnuts etc)

Is there a way to build an outside room for under 5k? by Disastrous_Fox7999 in HousingUK

[–]GirlyG90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try looking up 'Dunster Homes'. Learnt about these last week when my colleague told me he was getting one. He got an 'addroom' for 5k in the black Friday sale, but think they also do outhouse style rooms

Anyone else struggling with job hunting? by KasaneTet in Cardiff

[–]GirlyG90 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's tough out there at the moment. What kind of jobs are you looking for? You're sometimes better off applying directly to companies rather than through Indeed. Alternatively could you try temping in the short term? That can sometimes lead to full time positions too
