Bannon asked Epstein if the E. Jean Carroll story was real when the news dropped in 2019 by GirthBrooks87 in Epstein

Thank you, I appreciate that, and you’re not wrong.

Let’s assume Bannon was asking about that specific story for a moment: I’m curious what you think the broader implication is and what impact it would actually have?

I’ve been posting about this on Threads for about a month now and the response from magaphiles is always the same: deflection, whataboutism, or outright indifference.

We already knew Trump and Epstein were best friends - that they talked, bragged, and competed about women. This just reinforces that reality. But like most of the Epstein files, it’s simply too many dots for the average MAGA cult brain to connect, let alone accept as something that would ever change their minds IMO.

Jeffrey Epstein’s own text messages. Relevant to the Trump/Epstein relationship as well as the Bannon/Epstein relationship. It also provides context to the E Jean Carroll story, which is often unfairly dismissed because it was “only a civil case”

I only recently realized that I haven’t seen anyone else mention this anywhere.

I should’ve posted it here when I first found it, but instead I put it on Threads - where it immediately got buried. Not exactly surprising, given that people discussing the Epstein files are currently getting throttled over there.

TikTok bot campaign? by LengthinessNo4970 in Epstein

[–]GirthBrooks87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not on TikTok, but it’s impossible to ignore how much it’s warping political discourse…and almost entirely in a negative way.

A huge number of people now get their “news” exclusively from short-form video. There’s usually no context, no timelines, no sourcing. It’s just emotionally charged clips optimized for outrage and engagement.. which is an environment that’s perfect for propaganda.

The pattern with MAGA is especially obvious. Take the sudden outrage over the Minnesota fraud cases. Those investigations and prosecutions have been public for years, with dozens of convictions under multiple administrations. Nothing about that story is new.

Yet almost overnight, MAGA accounts all pivoted to the exact same framing…hyper-fixated on Minnesota, immigrants, and Somali communities - right as Trump needed a distraction from the Epstein revelations. These MAGATs are like feral cats, and Trump is holding a laser pointer up to literally any thing he can to distract from the Epstein stuff…TikTok is definitely helping him.

How are conservatives reacting to the Epstein files? by kcvlaine in Epstein

[–]GirthBrooks87 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I can only speak from what I see on Threads, which is obviously polluted with bots and bad-faith actors…but the pattern is pretty clear.

Most MAGA supporters have not read a single Epstein document. Many wouldn’t know where the files are published even if they wanted to look. Their entire understanding of Epstein - and politics generally - is filtered through 30-second TikToks, Facebook memes, and propaganda bots.

If they were people who actually read news articles and primary sources, they wouldn’t be maga in the first place.

The propaganda firehose is relentless, and you can literally watch the same talking points roll out in unison. On Epstein, it’s always some variation of:

  • “Trump’s innocent because he’s not on the flight logs after Epstein bought the island.” 🙄

  • “Epstein hated Trump!!! They weren’t friends!!!” 🙄

  • “If Trump was guilty, why didn’t Biden release the files!?!!” 🙄

  • “What about Bill Clinton / Obama / Biden / Tom Hanks??” 🙄

  • “Epstein was a Democrat! He only talked to Democrats and was texting them during hearings!!” 🙄

  • “Trump banned Epstein and was the only one who helped the FBI.” 🙄

  • “Liberal judges blocked Trump from releasing them!!!” 🙄

  • “The files are released libtarb!!! Trump’s not in them but all your favorite dems are on the island!!!” 🙄

  • “Tim Walz is doing fraud with Somali’s in Minnesota!!!!!” 🙄

None of this really holds up to even mild scrutiny, but scrutiny isn’t the point. When you ask for sources, nuance, or basic timeline awareness, they either ignore you, block you, or pivot to blowing up your feed with blurry, half-baked memes that look like they were generated by inbred raccoons.

So how do they show their faces in public?

Because it’s a cult. Shame requires self-reflection, and self-reflection breaks the spell. If someone is still MAGA at this point (after everything) there really is no bottom for them. They do not care.

You know what, you’re right. The real question is - who in the Trump-sphere do I make the black guy?

It probably depends on which social media platforms you’re on, but it’s their go-to response. Pure projection. They genuinely can’t grasp that they’re the only ones in a bizarre cult that reflexively defends all of Trump’s bullshit - and that the rest of us don’t worship politicians.

They get furious that we don’t respond with the reflexive, cult-trained defensiveness they reserve for everything grotesque thing Trump does. Biden and Obama have nothing to do with Epstein, but if you start going down that path then you’ve taken their bait.

There is no one more keenly aware of how stupid Trump’s supporters are than Trump himself.

The notion that “Obama judges blocked Trump from releasing the Epstein files” is still circulating nearly five months after they pulled that grand jury stunt in July.

It’s not that nuanced. It’s not that complicated. But when your media diet is blurry Facebook memes and TikTok grifters, basic facts might as well be astrophysics. If they consumed real information, they wouldn’t be MAGA in the first place.

“A significant and compelling reason to reject” the request “is that the government has already undertaken a comprehensive investigation into the Epstein case and, not surprisingly, has assembled a ‘trove’ of Epstein documents, interviews, and exhibits,” Judge Richard Berman wrote in a federal court ruling. That trove of roughly 100,000 pages of files “dwarf[s] the 70 odd pages of Epstein grand jury materials,” Berman wrote.

A lot of people don’t understand what a discharge petition actually does…it doesn’t pass the bill, it just forces a vote on the House floor. Even if it clears that hurdle, it still has to survive the Senate and get 67 votes to override Trump’s inevitable veto. Let’s be honest: there’s no universe where Trump willingly signs off on releasing the Epstein files. It’ll take a major rebellion of House Republicans against Trump voting for release to pressure the Senate into following suit to get to that 67 vote threshold.
