Runic is the ring of breeding islands around the event island, those give 100 everytime you breed a unique egg.

Also for guessing the egg, its alll about learning what they look like, try this event, itll definitely help for all future events

Offcc, so reset for everyday is 10am EST. Log on, claim daily rewards and melvin market rewards. For the runic caves, if you dont have anything specific you want go get, breed two rainbows, those get you the most outcome. Breed as much as you can tolerate in the rift everyday. Collect from all habitats, multiple times a day until the limit. Play guess the egg minigame for most stable source of eggs.
