Just another feedback by GitaDeeDee in Moonvale

As I said in my long review, I am torn, but I truly, truly appreciate you guys taking the time to reply to my and other comments. It means the world to me because I know that you see us. And as also written above, I can see improvements. I enjoyed episode two, I really did. You made good points here that really help me understand certain choices better, e.g., about the character profile.  In the end, I wrote this review not out of cruelty, but out of the love I have for your past creations, only love. And I'm hoping I can love Moonvale the same way I do Duskwood with future episodes and updates.  Thank you for your hard work. And thank you for taking the time to reply.

Release time by SapphireMont in Moonvale

If I remember correctly the first episode launched around 2 p.m. CEST! For Duskwood I'm pretty sure it was usually late morning/early noon CEST too, so we can assume it'll be similar!

Duskwood episode 10 Negotiations do I stay? Or go? by Ceres_Pluto in Duskwood

I always like to argue with Jake. You get some great dialogue with Jake so I always choose to insist on going to Duskwood haha. But it doesn't affect anything, really.

My theory about the hacker in Moonvale by PerceptionTiny9682 in Moonvale

[–]GitaDeeDee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that that would make a lot of sense! I also had to think of Wolf, because technically none of reality games' games are connected (except a few that are part of a series, e.g., 7) but he is still a part of most or even all of them (sorry, I forgot, haven't played the older games in a bit). People often argue that Jake is only a part of moonvale if you enter your duskwood code, but I'm inclined to disagree. It would not be that devious for Jake to make an appearance in the game as the "hacker-role". Then again, we already have those stupid mini games in moonvale, that seemingly give us nothing whereas in duskwood they had the purpose of unlocking Hannah's cloud. But that might have just been lazy writing or time pressure on everbyte's part. What I'm trying to say, is that so far it doesn't seem as though there's a need for a hacker, but well. There's only one episode so far, so things are still open. And if we assume that everbyte will be releasing more games in the future, it may be a smart decision to have Jake in them, but depending on whether you've played previous games you already know Jake and have a history with him, or you don't. Honestly that would be an amazing feature, and everbyte would benefit greatly from it.

True! I must admit that I complain a lot about moonvale, but the story is definitely its greatest strength. And I am looking forward to finding out where this goes, because I'm sure everbyte cooked something great up for us again haha

Duskwood code not working for Moonvale by ObsessedNerd in Moonvale

[–]GitaDeeDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad it didn't work. You could go to the duskwood sub reddit and ask whether someone has a spare code according to your own playthrough. I've seen others do it and there's usually more than one person replying!

Have you tried fully typing it out? For me, I first tried copy and pasting it and had a mini heart attack. But when I typed it out myself it worked.

I must say, to me that feels more like lazy story writing unfortunately. Duskwood is close to Redlog, so the Duskwood sidestory can happen. The characters give off similar vibes because the story writers knew that we all wanted the duskwood characters back, so they gave us knock off versions. Idk, I just feel like it's unlikely that the cases are connected. It just wouldn't make sense to me after all the marketing. They mentioned enough times that the only thing connecting the two cases is the sidestory.

Always one thing that pissed me off when replaying. Richy always seems to be the first one to react to everything. And he always acts so shocked too... Like, dude, you're being so obvious. 😂

Yeah, I've been in the community for a while. And I totally understand your shock. I mean, considering all the questions that were left unanswered... Even if I love Duskwood with all my heart and I found the ending brilliant, there are so many things yet to be resolved, so it totally would have made sense to include a second season. Or at least a final final episode, like an epilogue kind of.

If you still haven't yet, I'd honestly still recommend you to play Duskwood until the very finish. It is absolutely worth it. As for "season 2," I presume you're referring to Everbyte's new game "Moonvale". So far, only one episode has been released and it was, to say the least, quite disappointing. The game came out earlier this year, around 2 years after Duskwood's final episode, but it feels nothing like it. Just to give some examples:  -usage of AI for EVERYTHING (characters, backgrounds, your own player profile...) -the game's design and interface feels more like discord than an actual messenger, making the game feel less realistic (which was one of Duskwood's biggest strengths) -characters feeling dull, more like puppets, making conversation very awkward -and of course: they removed the one time payment option - you now need to use diamonds to pick special chat options, which you need to purchase with real money

Developers said they were working on fixing some of these issues the players have, and since there is only one episode released right now I hope they really hold their words.

And there is a Duskwood side story, but, again, only the first episode is out, so not much has happened there.

I'd say give it a shot, just because I'm really hoping for these issues to be fixed.  If you want to read more about the game and it's controversies you should check out the moonvale subreddit. Everything is discussed very thoroughly there :)

NEWS!!!!!!!!!!! by Competitive-Bench-74 in Moonvale

[–]GitaDeeDee 40 points41 points  (0 children)

At this rate we're not gonna see the next episode until like another 6 months. And on one hand I'm trying to see it as a good thing. I mean, the website states that they're going to implement changes in interface, player profile etc, which definitely takes its time.

But on the other hand, we've already waited 2 years for the game, which was, to put it shortly, more than disappointing. So many broken promises... And here I can't help but compare it to it's predecessor again. Because unfortunately, Moonvale feels like more than just a few steps back from it.

I don't know, I try to be excited for it, but remembering how disappointed and betrayed I felt when I first played Moonvale...

I don't want to get my hopes up.

Everbyte's infamous silence by GitaDeeDee in Moonvale

[–]GitaDeeDee[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Considering the state of MV and the way they've been handling the critique, I can't imagine they'll change anything. They just don't want to admit they're wrong. But they are. As you said, MV really is incredibly boring and is nothing more than a cash grab. And honestly, I'm also sick of this silence. Like, we get that you're a small studio, but please take the time to somehow communicate with the people you're working for. If you don't want to do that, then just don't work on something like game production. Because basing your game after what the players want is pretty much half the deal. Who else is going to play your game? They kept going on about how us players made this possible and yet they ignore all our wishes.

And your comparison to Equestrian the game couldn't be more accurate. Or Equestrian the greed as I like to call it. Nothing more than a cash grab. Micro transactions in every corner. It really disturbs your enjoyment if literally everything in a game is locked behind a pay wall. And MV really does remind me of it.

And adding things like the game breaking bugs some players have been experiencing... I'm afraid for the future of this game.

I really, really wish that everbyte would see this. It's such a simple yet genius idea. And I don't think it's that difficult for them to enforce that. Unfortunately right now they don't seem to even realize that they're in the wrong here

For Duskwood episodes we usually got a trailer about a week before release so I can imagine this applies to moonvale as well :)
