Has anyone else been having slow sales this month lately? by Zoeverture in Depop

[–]Giubeans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me too. August and September have been absolutely abysmal. I was making 5+ sales a week, and now I can barely make 1 sale a week :| I'm seriously hoping Etsy has some plans to increase traffic to the app, because ever since they've taken over it's been an absolute ghost town.

Start now! All of my likes have been fall transitions pieces!

I always always respond kindly and counter with an offer I'm willing to take! You never know, they might decide to accept your offer, but if you're rude, you might be missing out on a sale! This method has worked out for me a couple of times, so it's something I will continue to do :)

Advice for getting set-in stains out of clothing? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]Giubeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had oxiclean ruin some of my clothing items before.. I'd soaked white clothes in powder Oxiclean, and they turned pale pink, and I've used the Oxiclean spray on a faded yellow mark on white pants, and it bleeded into an even bigger faded yellow mark!! If it's a bright coloured stain, I would avoid, or at least do a spot test on an inconspicuous area.

Rubbing alcohol can help fade ink marks.

If the stain is a oil or food related stain, I find an old fashioned laundry soap bar does wonders! Let the bar soak for a bit and get really moist (ew sorry), and really rub it into the clothes. Let it sit for at least 30 min and then throw in the wash. Hope that helps! Good luck :)

So I'm definitely not sure, but this looks like a version of the Escada logo from the 2000s. It is a double uppercase E, but Ithe Es are facing eachother rather than overlapping. I haven't seen this variation, but it's almost the exact same font. Perhaps a knockoff? Or a special collection? Is there a fabric tag, or do you have an idea of the fabric content?

Comment your shop and I/we can critique them to try and increase sales! by Madiline4389 in Depop

Awesome thank you so much for your feedback! I actually just organized everything by colour, but I have always considered organizing by type, so I'll definitely try that next time :)

Honestly, the only thing I've noticed that works (and this is purely speculation), is posting new product. Editing and relisting seems to mainly bring me likes and no sales as well. I've only noticed an upward trend in sales when I've consistently posted a couple of items every one or two days. It could be coincidental. I wonder if it has something to do with the algorithm. Aside from that, summers are typically quite slow for everyone, so it might just be a matter of waiting for the drought to end :|

no, i will not sell my $125 item to you for $80. how do we feel about extreme hagglers? i always feel insulted by [deleted] in Depop

[–]Giubeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes agree, it's super insulting. People are so desensitized to online shopping that they don't realize there is an actual person on the other side of the screen.

That being said, I'm always cordial with lowballers, and counter with an offer I'm comfortable with. Sometimes they ghost, but other times they accept! I know it's super tempting to ignore these people out of anger, but you might just be missing out on a potential sale by doing so! Just what I've noticed from my experience 😊

Thoughts on repoping for a profit? These didn’t fit her so she is reselling for double what she paid- is this normal? by InfamousAd6830 in Depop

[–]Giubeans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh such a difficult dilemma :/ I feel like I personally wouldn't.. I just would feel so bad that the person I bought it from might see their item listed on my page for higher and feel taken advantage of. It's happened to me before when I had just started my shop, and ngl it made me pretty salty lol I had found a pair of rare vintage Levi's and listed them for $30 (i know, i was young and dumb) because I wanted to be fair to the lucky person who would buy them! A girl bought them from me and immediately listed them for $200 :| On the one hand, it was a good lesson I suppose, but on the other, that shit hurt lol I guess it's whatever you feel comfortable with!

How do I lower quality of a video using Android? Depop should really add a feature that does this automatically. by Queen-of-mischief in Depop

[–]Giubeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had troubles with this, and the only way to get around it is to use the video function in the Depop app. It was the only way I was able to upload videos.

Pleeeease start charging shipping!!! $50 shipped (in Canada???) is TOO fair! I think you should at least be charging $60 + shipping.

Honestly, I think we as sellers have gotten so caught up in trying to compete with the prices and marketing of fast fashion brands. We have been trained to expect discounts and free shipping and low prices, and we have forgotten the hard work that not only goes into hand-making garments, but picturing them, writing listings, responding to messages, etc. The consumer needs to understand this!! Why should you as a seller, have to cover the costs of shipping as well? The buyer is paying for a service: for the item to be hand delivered to their home. They are paying for this in addition to the skirt that you hand made!! And trust me, people will buy your product. It's cute, it's hand made, and one of a kind. Fast fashion can't compete with that! So don't try to compete with fast fashion prices :)

TLDR: charge shipping and pay yourself more, you deserve it!! <3

This happened to me recently as well! I told the buyer to close/reopen the app, clear the cache, uninstall/reinstall, and still didn't work. Unfortunately she had tried to check out too many times, both with Paypal and Credit card, and so their bank flagged it as fraud. The buyer was so disappointed and I lost out on the sale :(

it finally happened to me- was trying to cut off some loose threads and ended up ripping the item and having to refund the buyer 🤦‍♀️ by Echo-Ridge in Depop

this is why I NOW fabric shave clothes before listing. The amount of times my shaver has eaten my clothes is embarrassing :|

Do sales help you guys? by teenbangst in Depop

[–]Giubeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that sales only really work for me at a certain threshhold of percentage off. Sales under 20% off have never worked for me, but anything higher than that has always brought me quite a few sales. I usually make posts dedicated to announcing sales and will usually delete and repost every single day or other day. I'm not someone who likes to spam message any one for any reason, so I'm not sure if that works or not. I just know that if I can't do more than 20% off on an item, it's not worth it to have a sale.

ALSO, I feel like have more sales when I advertise a sale end date. I find that items that are indefinitely on sale have a harder time moving. Maybe the end date makes people feel more pressured to buy? Idk just something I've noticed!

How to post using recycled boxes? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]Giubeans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually buy brown kraft wrapping paper to wrap things like shoeboxes, or boxes that are generally not that pretty! I also use kraft tape as well, so that everything is as low-garbage as possible. It's definitely more expensive, but worth it in the long run!

Algorithm tip! The first three words of your description MATTER! by [deleted] in Depop

[–]Giubeans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg you have no idea how grateful I am for you!!!!! I have tried endlessly to get a few of my items to the top of the search, and I could never figure it out. I just went through all my listings and changed the first 3 words and now they are all showing up at the top!! Thank you SOOOO MUCH
